Craig (Spock) and I installed this kit this weekend: http://www.autotrimdesign.net/detail.jsp?item=IPP-VCTRY-1005&category=27301. It installs pretty easily, invisible, and should help protect the paint. I figure it will take you 4 hours to install the first time and 2 1/2 to 3 hours if you know what you're doing. Simple and easy, I highly recommend it to protect your paint. There are 23 pieces which cover all the paint in the front, the tops and fronts of the saddlbags, and the top and sides of the tank. No more scuffing of the tank and no paint chips do to road debris.

My only regret is I didn’t install it day one. I had the kit day one but didn’t make the time to install it as I wanted to ride the bike every chance I had.

Fergy mastered the technique quicker than I but it is pretty easy. Once on you really have to look or feel to notice that it is on. Bugs and other debris will also clean off much easier from the vinyl protection than the paint.

Northwest of you

I bought the material on ebay (2'x20) for about $20 (I think).

I have only put in on a few spots, so far (where the fairing slopes down into the floorboards and across the side storage doors).

I noticed right away that those areas could get "scuffed" from shifting and braking and "banging" the doors when I get on and off the bike

(I have now taken to using the passenger floorboard as a "step up" for mounting and dismounting) I was kicking them, sometimes.

I agree it's an easy application and "disapears" into the paint once it dries.

I have put it on the tanks on my wifes KP and my JP because it protects the paint on the tank, where it's easy to "rub" especially if you are wearing chaps.
