Does the temp gauge still go crazy at very low temps or does it read correctly on the new model Visions now? Did the problem get corrected on the early models?

My 2010 seems to read within a couple degrees of the signs posted in public places like Banks etc, regardless of warm temps or colt ones.

i just remember there being an issue in extreme cold (sub-freezing) the temp gauge would not read correctly.

Yep. On my '08, the darn thing switches to reading in metric (degrees C, instead of degrees F) once the temps drop below freezing. Once I figured that out, it's still accurate. The question is, of course, has this been rectified on the newer models?

to answer an earlier ? I ride in sub freezing temps. I ride year round to work. The coldest day we had last year was 17. I rode . My commute is 26 miles one way.I ride a 1999 V29C. I will never willingly choose to drive over riding, only in the white stuff which we don't have much of.

TONS of bridges!!

I asked this question back in Dec 08 after my first sub freezing temp ride. Down to 29 degrees it works fine but after it goes lower it takes a dump and reads values that could in fact be metric (never thought about that). In mid 09 I had the instrument cluster replaced because of a problem with the timer. The "newer" cluster does the exact same thing. We do see low 20s here in the coldest winter months and I ride no matter the temp as long as there was no moisture the night before. Hey we've got heated seats and grips and thiose babies make all ther difference in the ride. Whenever it is cold and you feel warmth, it's all GOOD!!!

Mine seems accurate from 101 down to 28. That is both ends of the extremes I've had it. I have found it to not be accurate unless I've moved 4 or 5 miles. As some as the forward motion stops it moves high of the mark. Certainly close enough for me to determine if I'm having fun or not.

mines read up to 111 while riding through arizona, and I've had a momentary reading of 29 before it went into the -9 as it normally does when the temp is below 32.

Mine works to 25, and quite a bit better than I do! But we're all Gerbinged up, like Charlie Brown in his snow suit. I didn't really know what to expect, but the electric heavy weather coat, with armor and the whole bit, when turned on, is like sitting in front of a window with the sun shining in on your back-amazing, this nanowire technology they got.

Had mine read up to 115 while riding over to Hoover Dam. Boy was it hot, so it must have been right. Lowest I've ridden in was 32. Don't like the idea of black ice either.

Mine reads 2-4 degrees above temp bank-school displays..  I know once the temp guage hits 120+  --  the display displays dashes until it falls below 120 again...

Recently I rode to work and temperature was around 27F. Under 32F the gauge didn't read correctly.
In warmer weather it always reads 5-10 above ambient.

in very hot temps mine will be about 2-5 degrees hotter on the move. If it sits for any length of time it can be 10 - 20 degrees hotter until it starts moving around again.

Got the first sub freezing ride of the season the other morning going to work. Temp gauge worked normally down to 31F then read -0 then -9 then -8 before I pulled into the parking lot. I'm guessing the engineers didn't think we'd be riding the Vision in the cold!! How wrong can an "engineer" be????????

I really wish they would fix that. I don't understand how a technical issue can survive through several model years. It probably isn't important to most but it would be to me when I get my Vision.

so far the lowest temp (riding) mine has seen has been 28F. when i start the bike its usually at 60F (garage) and then i as i ride to work i work it slowly drop. I think of it more as a toy than anything useful as most of the time its not exactly correct if you compare it to a banks sign or what not. i always wondered if sitting above a 200F+ engine would give it false readings. Id say the only temp guage that actually works is the one for the oil dipstick. =)

+1. Mine, too. probably between 5-10 degrees higher than real ambient T depending on where the sun is relative to the black mirror housing surface. Bad spot to put it IMO.
Works great only when it's cloudy...

My '08 guage works perfectly - in Celcius - which is all that matters in most of the world :>
