New Bohemia, VA | I think the front was replaced around 60,000, giving it about 24,000 miles, and the rear was replaced around 72,000, giving it around 12,500, not sure, but that is my guess. The last time they were changed together was at the 44,500 mark.
I knew there was a good reason I didn't ride in the rain yesterday.... 
By the way, they're not worn flat, got a nice round wear to them...

Boydsville, AR United States | Holy bald tire vaderman! That's a lot balder than I take mine, but I guess if you don't ever encounter any wet roads, you would probaly be OK. |

New Bohemia, VA | Wow! got the new tires on the bike, the rear axle went the first jab, woo hoo. I've done too many of these. btw, my original bearings are still holding up excellent, the pulley is still shot, why am I still riding on this thing...??? |

Pitt Meadows, BC Canada | I think Victory should GIVE Chris a new bike - just for the support and leadership he has given the rest of us!
I bet hundreds of us have promoted Victory just because of Chris's accomplishments with his Vision - be worth it to Victory as a promotion!
Anyone have ideas on how we can make Victory aware of what a great move this would be for them????

However, I plan on wearing out my Bentley until some catastrophic happens to it and it can affordable be fix. The only oil leak I have is that sensor thingy on the left rear part of the motor and it is starting to form a larger drip, but the bike, otherwise is not using any oil. I share with everyone, to include my stupidity, so you can get a good limitation of where some boundries are. I believe riding everyday has helped minimize problems with my bike. The tires on the other hand, has nothing to do with that and is rather FOOLISH. I was checking them nearly everyday and it seemed right there at the end, the rear tire started wearing faster. It makes me wonder if there is a softer compound to the inside, below the wear bar, that would cause it to do that? Then again, maybe not...

LaPorte,Tx. | Cords weren't showing. I've been to the tire guy to get tires changed, and it amazes me when I look at the stack of old tires. So many of them have the tire cords showing, what are people thinking? I hope that the last few miles on those tires the bike was standing still on a good old burnout!!  |

New Bohemia, VA | I may seem to be making a little light of the wear but the bottom line is it was not my intent to go down that far. My schedule is busy, busy, early morning, late even, no garage to work in and no other car to drive, per se. Well, I did have my jeep but the battery was dead. I bought a new battery just to be able to take the tires and get them mounted. But cords, NEVER on a car or motorcycle, especially on a motorcycle, there is no good thinking there at all. I understand something happening and losing some air and not realizing it for a bit, but to purposely run that out, wrong. I'm guessing though as I lost my records in a computer glich, those tires had about 23,000 on the front, a 1,000 miles more than I would have normally gone, and the rear had about 14,000 miles on, about 2,000 miles more than I would have gone.
Okay, chide me if you will as I deserve it, but that is the last time they go so far without getting reshoed. |

Pitt Meadows, BC Canada | My first (and only) tire change was at 20,000km (12,000+ miles) - and I did both front & rear. My riding is coastal/mountain with a co-pilot, so lots of curves, and I never fool with getting the tires anywhere NEAR smooth. Re: Victory - I think if you get to 100K - they should GIVE you a new VISION and take your old one for study.

I agree. You're showing the world what the VV can do, you're being vocal in support of the brand, and being helpful to us lesser riders to boot. Victory could do worse than recognize that somehow.

A softer compound on the inside would make sense, as it would be less prone to hysteresis cracking and thus premature leakage.

What I just wrote makes perfect sense, but somehow it strikes me with the same unease as a commercial for preparation H. |

Not to steal anyone's thunder but this was brought up long ago for Roadkill's '99 when it reached 100,000 miles and their are others out there on Vics. From my experience over the years with Victory bikes 250,000 miles would be a possible Victory buy back.
Of course everyone that reaches 100,000 miles on one bike I tip my helmet to.

New Bohemia, VA | actually, Victory has already given me something, a fantastic bike for my money! I wouldn't expect them to give me anything, but I hope to be riding somewhere really cool when the clock rolls 100,000 miles. I'm anticipating it to be around May of next year, after 3 1/2 years of ownership. I've met a few 100,000 milers over the last few years I've been riding and even a couple of 200,000+ers on the same bike of various makes. The Winger that got the blood flowing again on riding rolled 100,000 miles on his '03 Wing after 5 years and is still riding the same bike.
I would hope to get 250,000 out of my Vision and will certainly try. |
