I love everything else about the bike except the OEM exhaust note! My Honda Elite scooter sounded louder than this almost 1800 cc bike! I have heard a ton of things from a variety of people locally but wanted to reach out to y'all and get your opinions. I am ideally looking for a LOW rumble that gets loud mainly when you "get on" the throttle but easy on the ears at highway cruising. I have heard the stage 1 exhaust and dont think that it is loud enough for me.

Here are my requirements:

must cost less thank $1k inc installation (and it has to be installed by a mechanic because I cant do it myself) Prefer it in black but would accept chrome

My concerns are sound, looks, cost, and if I will need a power commander, how difficult will it be to tune the commander.

Oh yeah and I live in the North Los Angeles area and wont go to Cycle Dragon in Cerritos. Anyone have any thoughts or experience with AIP in Van Nuys?

Its always baffled me (yeah, I choose the word on purpose) why neither Bassani or Vance & Hines offer exhaust systems for the Vision. Unless there is an OEM relationship of some kind with Victory or one of the other suppliers that sell VIC aftermarket equipment under another name it seems odd that given recent economics V&H appears to continue to ignore the Victory market segment entirely.

Bassani makes products for a limited number of Vic bikes but not the Vision, even after 3 years of production.

Both manufacturers are within spitting distance of you.

My brother in law's 1st year Kawasaki Mean Streak was a test bed for V&H, he got a fuel controller, a cool looking set of pipes, and the thrill of seeing his bike in ads for submitting it for fitment and testing purposes. He was without the bike for about 2 weeks.

I have never called either company because Im happy with my stock pipes. The wife hated the V&H classic slip-ons that we had on our 91 ultra. She always came back from rides complaining of headaches from the noise, and I always had to tip-toe through the neighborhood to avoid pissing off my neighbors.

You might give one or both companies marketing departments a call and see if they're interested in looking at the Vision now that there are over 7500 units on the road. Who knows maybe you'll get lucky, or maybe you'll get an answer to a my question.

In my opinion, the Atom Bomb muffler mods (your stock muffler modified so the Gatlin tips will still work) sound much better than either the Victory Stage 1 or Stage 2, without being overly loud. I've had many comments on how nice mine sounds compared to other Visions. They have a nice deep tone but are quiet enough to still use our Scala headsets without issue.

I felt the same with the factory pipes. Tried the S1 and was disappointed as well. I then added the Big Honkers from Ness in Dublin (available elsewhere as well) and am I pleased! Lots of low rumble at idle and early roll-on, a very low and powerful deceleration rumble, great bite when wot and the cruise is quite tolerable. I can still hear my radio, etc. at cruise and do not require ear plugs as I did with my Vance and Hines HDs of the past. I would recommend the Honkers after hearing what you are looking for. You might find a dealer or two that has them installed on a demo bike or a customers bike so you could hear them. It never hurts to ask.

Good luck!
