Subject: Set the clock on a Vision 8-Ball

Just picked up my 8-Ball yesterday and have only found one problem. I can't set the clock. In the manual is says to set it with the "Mode Switch" on the front of the left controls. My bike does not have a mode switch on the front of the left controls. Anyone know the trick? The "12:00" flashing is driving me crazy...

a2tanker,
Do you have a switch that is located on the back of the left controls? (look at it from the front of the bike) I've got a little toggle switch and how I learned (yesterday) to set the clock is to initially hold down the switch with it in the main screen. Then the clock will start flashing. Granted I overshot the time for a few time but finailly got it right.
Now if you don't have a switch in the place I mentioned - oops on my part.
Oh and by the way - congratulations on your new 8-Ball, enjoy the ride and if all else fails - put black tape over the flashing 12:00.

No switch. I had my neighbor come by and make sure I wasn't losing my mind. Guess I'll have to wait until the dealer opens on Tuesday.

As you're sitting on the seat, there's a black toggle switch on the back side of the left switch housing which lets you see/reset the : trip counters, avg mpg,avg speed, etc.

From the "main" position (which shows the odometer reading), hold the switch in 'til the hours begins blinking, then set correct hours. Then hold the switch in 'til the "tens of minutes" starts blinking, then set it. Then set the "ones of minutes" and hold the switch 'til the display quits blinking.

I hope you're not completely confused by my tutorial. If you are, see your dealer LOL.

Thanks, but there is no switch on the 8-ball. I just checked the regular Vision and see the switch, but there is not one on my bike. Must be something else to it. Thanks for the reply, though.

Just for the record, I have an 8 ball and the switch is there. They stripped a lot of things off it, but not the mode switch. I can only assume that you have the switch housing for the wrong model on there.

Rick,

Thanks. You must be right. I have the wrong part I guess. Have to get with the dealer to get it fixed.

Thanks for the help.

If it is wrong, should be an easy fix. The housing comes off with 2 screws and the plug is at the base of the handlebars.

What I used to do on my previous bike and plan to do on my vision if all else fails is disconnect the battery just before 1.00 o'clock and reconnect at 1.00 o'clock. This worked on my previous bike and when after the first wet week of vision ownership I had a dead flat battery I jumped started it at 3 minutes to 1 and ever since the clock has been 3 minutes behind the correct time.
