Loading up the SSG and taking to the dealer tomorrow. Looks like the stator is shot the best I can tell. Ran the service manual test last night and the multi meter is only showing about 4v on B - C. Should be up around 18v at idle, plus at 2000 rpm, no change. Man I was really hoping it was not the stator.
On the way back from Natchitoches, La. Sunday, I noticed the volt meter dropped down to about 13.5v from the usual 14.5v. The test last night showed no Ohm reading and the voltage is way down when hooked up to B &C leads.
Anyway, anyone else have a stator go bad on the Vision. I'm sure it will be out of commision for two weeks, taked to the service manager and told him it was coming in. Mileage right now...about 20 miles short of 50k.

I'm sure you have been there...done that, but -

Did you check the battery cables for clean and tight.? Also there is a circuit breaker located under the plastic cover in front of the engine that can rear it's ugly head with electrical issues as the nuts on it may be loose.? Mine (my bike's)?were loose from the factory.

I had a stator go out on my 08 Vision. Took 3 days for the dealer to get the part. No biggie...

Mine was done under warranty, I have no idea of the cost if you are out of warranty..

I had mine go out on a trip and a visit to a dealer that had never seen me before. Once the stator was identified as the problem, they took the parts out of a brand new showroom bike and got me on my way next day. Then put my warranty parts in thier bike. i believe the stator was worth in the range of $500.00 Canadian plus labor. I was just under 3000 Miles.

Ok, life is good again. After two weeks and one day the SSG is back in the garage where it should be, unless on the road. The stator was bad and it has been replaced. I'm a little disappointed that it did fail and that it takes two weeks to get it done. But between the fact that we have to deal with the warranty, and dealers don't carry parts, I guess two weeks is pretty good. I had to trailer the bike to and from the dealer, so I haven't ridden the bike, only in the drive way, all looks alright at this time. The PolarisStar warrany covered the cost of the stator replacement. I had to sign off on the bill, big $s, but the stator and gasket kit were only ~$250. The one added day is the problem, it is one of the reasons I added the post about certified Victory mechanics. I'm not sure what the future will be, because of the one day, but I'm hoping it won't cause me too much of an issue on down the road. But I'm also always aware of Murphy's law. For now, on the road again.

I just had a $800-$900 dashboard/speedometer replaced under warranty! 4 business days and my dealer had the part! I was shocked. No issues and no hassles..

vikrider, sounds like a great dealer, made the repairs quickly, and gave you a bike to ride...you need to promote that guy. Mine took over two weeks and they didn't give me a bike to use, but they did strip out the oil drain plug...

All I can say is stators go bad, it's happened to a few Harleys I've owned and hell, alot of auto's and trucks I've had have had the alternators replaced. Glad it didn't take too long to fix/replace in most cases.................

Ok im going on close to 4 weeks now. they 1st thought it was the Regulator/Rectifier that took a week. Then the Stator was back odered! And its the best weather of the year. This just pisses me off! But its in a long line of problems I have had! I have lost 18 weeks with the bike being in the shop and its not 2 years old yet!

Back when I got my bike it had a bad stator. Took three weeks to get the replacement. Dealer was not willing to pull on off a floor bike to get me going.
1) Stator has been fine since then 45k+
2) Dealer went out of business
3) Depending on who your dealer is and how they take care of the customer brings up "Your results may vary"
4) Friend just bought a HD and was amazed that this dealer did not have the time to show him how his key fob worked after the purchase. Hmm

My stator went out at Sturgis this year. I have a 2009 VV TP with only 4k on it. Rice Victory in Rapid city SD got me up and running in 2 days. Have them code it as a stranded rider and you will get priority for the next avaiable stator they find. That is what Victory did for me at Sturgis. They still have no idea why it went out but the warranee took care of everthing... except the camry I had to rent for a couple of days while I waited.
