Just got in from a 330 mile ride today with my buddy that has a BMW 1200LT and this is our first ride together without our copilots since I got the cams. At the end of the day as we are getting on a 4 lane we decide to see what we can do from a rolling start. In first and second we are even but after that I pull away. At the next traffic light he says that he can take me from a standing start but that he was surprised by the rolling start but he could not do anymore. So we take off from the redlight and he pulls away by the front tire through first and second but by third I am even and from fourth to fifth I am pulling away!!! Life is soooo goood!!!

We ate at the River's End on the Nantahala River on Highway 74 just down the road from Robinsville and the Dragon. We were planning on returning home by going through the Nantahala Forest but the waiter told us to stay on 74 to Sylvia then take Highway 107 South to 281 South toward Chashiers NC. He said that the road had just recently been paved and was a great biker road. There was no traffic on the road and it had some great views and was twisty enough that some of the curves were in first gear. If you ever get in the area it is worth the ride.

Joker, thanks for the route info and review. My son and I will be in N.C. in sept. and that was one of the routes I had planned to take, never having been there before.

I've been up and over the other way through Bryson City, but know how those roads are. I'd like to get back out that way sometime when the weather was good. When I came through I had snow from Bryson City down through Maggie Valley and even when I got over onto I-40 about 2 years ago.

One item I left out is towards the end of 281 when you cross into Transylvania County you will need to turn right on the second road you come to as we were told that the last section of 281 is not paved. At least that is what we were told but the road we turned on, Slick Fisher, was about as twisty as you can find but it did have some loose gravel that had washed onto the road.
