My question is to the riders who have their wives in the passenger seat. My darling wife is 5' tall, with a 27" inseam. I am wondering if any the female passengers here fit that description, because many of you have said that your better-half loved the comfort of the rear seat.

Do you know if my wife would need to have risers in order for her feet to reach the floorboards comfortably? She can only rest her feet completely on my Burgman when she has her HD riding boots on.

Would appreciate any help that you can give me, as we won't have a chance to ride a Vision until the third week of April.

Cheers,
Reg

Reg,  my wife has a 29" inseam at 5'3" and she was very comfortable during a 250 mile ride three weeks ago without risers.  She sat on another Vision at the dealer that had the risers and felt they would be even better so we have them installed now.  She hasn't had a chance to ride with them though.  The risers are a 5-10 minute installation so you don't need to be in a hurry to have them put on.  Let your wife ride without them first, then add them if she feels they are necessary.

April is just around the corner.  I know you're anxious for that first ride.  I sure was.

She'll be comfortble in the seat, and the riser my be necessary, but check to see if her legs rub the saddle bags. If she's comfortable without the risers, you might want to get them anyway to keep from rubbing the paint off.

My SO Laura is 5'3" w/ a 29" inseam. I had the risers installed when they delivered the Vis bcuz we had done a test ride in June'07 & agreed that she probably would need them. She says she is very comfortable w/ them as they allow her a better riding position than the stock floorboard did.

I put the risers on my bike first thing. When we demo rode the Vision, my wife noticed her legs were touching the bags.

At 5' it is a slam dunk guarantee she will want the risers. 5'4"-5'5" is marginal.

Thanks for the input guys. When I talked to the dealer, he said that his demo bike wouldn't have risers on it. After looking at some of the pictures of people riding two up (on-line mags), it looked like the passenger could have problems with rubbing on the saddlebags, so I was a little concerned about that. I am happy to hear that the risers are now available.

I want my wife to be as comfortable as possible. Well, maybe not too comfortable - she has a habit of sleeping back there on our trips. Says she has the best sleep, although she ends up missing all the great scenery.

Cheers,
Reg

MUUUaAAHHHH! That right there is funny! Maybe install highway pegs for her off of the rear tip over bars, something that would extend out like highway bars. You could either have something fabricated to come off the same mount where the current floorboards are or I believe there is a threaded hole under the tip over to where you could screw something in to extend out.

I am making a set of risers for my Sweetie. She is 5' tall as well, and her feet aren't even close to flat on the rear floorboards. I am trying a set at 1.75" first to see if it will be enough height for her.----Metalguy

Even with the risers preventing rubbing, for the most part, I am still a little apprehensive of pant leg wear on the bags.

Has anyone tried any of the clear adhesives (or have a product to recommend) that would apply to edge of the bags and protect the finish? It seems that the sharp angle and shape of the bags would make it difficult for anything to stick well over the long haul.

Maybe I'm just being paranoid and the paint and finish will hold up fine??

Have the aftermarket risers on now (OK...but a could be a little taller). Metalguy....anxious to check out how the 1.75" ones work for you. That may be the answer right there. Make the bike fit the passenger...

Ok here ya go…

We've ridden about 1800 miles and there is no wear to the bags at all from my legs dangling on them. I am 4'6 and my feet just reach the top of the passenger floor boards when they are folded up. We are adding a 3" extension to the top of the folded up floor boards. We are in the process of configuring it now. It will be nice to have someplace to put my feet. Cliff says the 4" riser should do the trick for your wife. And yes the back seat is absolutely comfortable, especially with the heated seat!

Have fun riding.

Well, another lady on here! Welcome, Little Linda, good to see we have another backseat poster. Wow, what a trooper to be riding and your feet a dangling! Mine couldn't stand it without a backrest, afraid she was gonna go off the backside. Lovin' the heated seats also, but it is about to get real warm and will be looking for A/C seat.

Wow, maybe I should make some attachments to the TOP edge of the rear floorboards! -----Metalguy

How about attachments for the bottom of the passengers feet? Anybody remember Clogs? That should be good for 3-4 inches. Besides, what woman would turn down 4 inches of additional length? By the way.............I was talking about their inseam.
