| when mine is warm it is around 200 give or take 5 degrees. i get way better gas mileage at that temp compared to cold. |

Georgia, west of Atlanta | I was wondering that yesterday cruising at 75-80mph on I-20 east bound through Atlanta, the digital outside air gauge was reading 107, highest I've seen yet. On a similar day and ride my RoadGlide is at about 220-225 on the oil temp. I'm gonna get a oil temp gauge for the Vision, just been trying to find the best one made before shelling out the $$$............. |

Pittsburgh, PA | normal is 200. little warm 225 ive gotten it to 250F then as soon as i get moving it slowly drops back to 200.. |

Central New York | Is there a real reason to have the dipstick thermometer? Is there a reason to care what the engine temp is other than confirming your legs are warm? Could there be a stuck thermostat, broken water pump, or burned out fan that I should be watching for? What can you see? how hot is too hot and what do you do when you get there?

New York State | I have the Victory Thermometer it helps when stuck in traffic when I get above 250 I either ride the shoulder or shut it down |

Georgia, west of Atlanta | Like Trekwolf said, only critical time would be on a hot (90F + day and be stuck in traffic, not for a little while but like hours moving along at 5 mph and stop and start, All big cities like L.A., Atlanta, Dallas, ect could provide theses conditions. If you were running along at a good speed before the jam, the engine would be heat soaked and no where for the heat to be drawn off to. The oil temp could get up to 300F and it would start losing some of it's protection capabilities and engine internals do not like that..............Options: get off the highway and just use surface streets, 35mph airflow is better than none............and once down below 250F, shut her down and get a beer or ice tea................ |

New Bohemia, VA | Having used the oil temp stick for nearly since I've own the bike, I like that little accessory. It is chrome, unlike the cheap black plastic. It actually has gotten some attention of its own and makes the bike look even more stylish with its sweeping gauge numbers. But overall it does no more than look pretty, even though it is good to know what the temp is. I have had up to 300 on a few rare occassions but mostly it runs between 200-250 depending on the ambient tempature and the amount of sitting in traffic I do. But, I've confirmed that the motor is bullet proof and will never overheat even in the worse heat conditions. In the cooler tempatures it will stay between the 180 - 220 mark, depending again on the traffic conditions. |

Nalcrest, FL United States | Bullet proof and never overheat? Mine shut down yesterday sitting in 45 minutes of bumper to bumper traffic. Ambient temp was 107 on the dash and it just cut out. Wouldn't start till it cooled off. I just changed the oil from Rotella to Vic oil 80 miles ago. I have been stuck in traffic before where the temp went up to 116 and it didn't cut out. I think the Vic oil was partly to blame. The engine sounded noisier as soon as I changed it.I think Kevinx has said that the Vic oil disipates heat faster? i think it makes it run hotter. |

Vineland, NJ United States | I don't want to start WWIII but I also just switched from full syn to Vic oil. No heat problems yet but finding nuetral is much more difficult than with full syn. I'm not sure why that is? |

Ruskin, Fl | When I'm due for an oil change finding N is a royal bitch. Changed my oil yesterday and it shifts smooth as silk again. My gear indicator was also not displaying 4 most of the time. It would stay on 3 when I shifted to fourth. Shift to fifth and it displayed 5. Seems to have resolved with the oil change also. |

Pittsburgh, PA | thats the exact same one i have on my scooter. mine was replaced under warranty and they gave me that one.. the one i had before hand only went to 300F. this new one goes to 350F and i picked up 12.8HP and 14.73 ftlbs.. LOL !!!!! |
