I like the 2011 website. I also like the fact they have quitened the tranny. The white paint with striping looks good too...............

Id like to know what exactly makes the 5000 oil change interval a 5000 mile o.c.i. is it strictly because of transmission design or did they improve the victory oil to with stand longer OCI's? too be honest i was never impressed with the victory 20w40 semi synth.. it would be nice to find out and not just guess why.. if its a oil thing. then us people with PRE-2011 models can have a 5000 miles oci and not void the warranty. i hate this 2500 oci.. i just changed my oil before i rode from pittsburgh to topeka kansas and back and now im less than 400 miles from needing ANOTHER oil change!

Without getting technical, the design improvements of the transmission and the neutral assist are less demanding on the oil and therefore viscosity breakdown is not as fast.

I don't believe it has any significant reason with the trans redesign. The neutral assist was devised because as the oil got older it made it difficult to shift. To contend with the shifting problem the neutral assist was devised so we can get the full use of the oil without the hassle. auto manufacturers went from a 3,000 to a 5,000 with no redesign just because of public outcry and the rationale that our car is better because it doesn't have to have an oil change as often. There are very few "dirty" engines left in this world, with the Jeep 6 cyclinder being on of them that demanded the oil to be changed at the 3,000 mile interval, I know personally that one.

The question I have is that though it is not causing any real harm but the chain will rattle, at least on mine around the 2,000 to 3,000 marking depending on the oil. I have often used my oil to 4,000+ with no concern and even when the full 6,500 miles to and from california without changing oil or filter. on the last 300 miles of the trip the motor begin to tick louder. I found out, or at least so I reasoned, the oil was almost at the add mark and I figured that was why. When I changed the oil, the motor quieted right up as it always has. I wasn't surprised at the small use of oil since I rode my baby hard for nearly the entire trip, almost in a continuious motion while on the road.

But let us not be fooled to think the miracle of a 5,000 mile oil change is the work of a tranny redesign, it is function only reason with a neutral assist to stymy the neutral find problem when the oil gets old. I'm definitely sticking to my story.

id love to get the OK from victory to go 5000 miles on my vision and NOT void the warranty. if you read the fine print in the extended warranty. they want receipts with dates and mileage of when your oil was changed. for a touring bike 2500 mile oil change interval is silly.

I wonder if the older models will be able to be updated to the 2011 tranny specs. To be able to go 5000 miles on an oil change and to be able to get neutral easier would be great. I would not miss the klunk either.

I stopped using the Victory oil 10 years ago because it broke down and caused hard shifting after about 2000 miles. After trying a few different brands of oil, I settled on the one that I use now and change it at 5000 miles, which I have been doing on my 2000SC for 9+ years now with no problems. It still has the original clutch and tranny too. I've been doing the same thing with my 2008 Vision.

I think it's great that Victory continues to improve their transmissions. The tranny in my Vision is light years better than the one in my SC. I also think they have tacitly admitted to what my own experience had already proven, which is that the Victory branded oil breaks down early when used in the older transmissions. Honestly though, it didn't seem to break down early in my Vision. I used the Vic oil in my Vision until the factory warranty ran out, but I didn't run it past 2500 miles. My SC doesn't like the stuff at all. On the SC, 2000 miles on the Vic oil, and it becomes hard to shift and hard to find neutral. With the other oil, it's still fine even after 5000 miles.

I don't have any trouble finding neutral on either bike.

The factory website says the 2011 transmissions are changed and improved so much that they can't be retrofitted to earlier models. Change for the better is always good.
