In the beginning of May when Polaris announce their big moves and plant closing I decided to investigate before purchasing a Victory. I did not want to support a company that was simply selling out for cheap labor. Long story cut short, I do believe Polaris is doing what is needed to keep the company profitable. I will be placing my order for a Vision at the end of summer.

1. Made in America.
2. Purchasing will support the Americans working at dealerships.
3. Polaris is offering severance packages and preferential hiring at Spirit Lake.
4. Announcement made in plenty of time for workers to adjust their lives.
5. Only the ATV manufacturing is moving. Not motorcycles or snowmobiles.
6. Polaris is a global company and does need to think global.

I found various small press clippings that had to be pieced together to get a better picture. Wisconsin is the 10th worst place for a business according to a couple polls. They have all but forced several companies to leave in order to stay alive. Even Harley-Davidson has muttered that it is looking at the Wisconsin plants. The unions have been quiet during all of this. The only outrage seems to be from reporters and those workers interviewed. I cannot find where Wisconsin, the unions, or the workers offered any incentive for Polaris to stay! There may be offers, but they have not been published in a way that I could find.

I value the way this board handled my questions. No flaming and answers from a couple of folks that made sense. Even a couple posts from a person who lists Spirit Lake as his hometown.

So, I willingly raise my glass of Victory hemlock and take a drink. Dang you Vision! You have poisoned me and I cannot be satisfied with any other ride.

I will place my order at the end of summer. Since I am almost on July, I will check out the 2011 offerings and fo from there. The dealer in town doesn't even have a Vision to sell! They are getting their last one in next month.

Take care out there and see you all soon.

JB

I understand your concern as I have tried to stay American as much as possible in my purchases. We drive a Ford Mustang GT for my wife and I have a Lincoln Town Car, both good vehicles. This is my second Victory and I love my 2010 Vision ABS. Last night I had an emergency stop in the pouring rain and the bike never once acted up. Thanks Polaris for making a great product, we will do our best to help support you.
