Greetings all,

About a year ago I hit our local Vision dealer on demo day and had the privilege to ride a Kingpin tour and a Vegas 8 Ball (the line for the Vision was 25 riders deep). This demo ride lit the fuse to the bomb that is about to go off.

After my VA appointment on Saturday morning I hit R&B Cycles in Nashville for what was a very pleasant experience. Rick answered all of my questions, and was very patient with me, as I kept going from Vision to Vision drooling on them all. When I told him that I was having a major surgery next week that will keep me out of the saddle for maybe 6 months, his response was, well, you need to go out and ride our (demo) 2008 Vision Tour today then. The ride was everything I expected and more. He even invited me back to their Demo Days in a couple of weeks, and said he would get me a comfortable chair to sit in, and keep me supplied with hot dogs and cold drinks. What a great guy. My local dealer has ignored me on my last three visits, twice, no welcome, no greeting, nothing, and once, they stopped talking and walked away when I told them I wasn?t ready to buy today.

I?ve been cruising around the various Victory forums for quite some time and I would like to thank each of you for all that you share to the newbies like me. Although I keep changing my mind about what I want, at least I know what I am looking at, what to expect, and what extra accessories/upgrades I will want. When the time comes to pull the trigger, I will be fully locked and loaded with my sights on the target. -Damn, too many Army metaphors- And I will eventually plan a trip to Gainesville to visit Kevin.

So, my regards to you all.

SE (Jon)

Great looking bike Jon. Welcome and glad to hear you are ready to jump into the "Victory Lane". No matter what you buy you will love it. Sorry to hear about the bad dealer experience. Seems like there are a handful of numbnuts out there, but I really think that's the exception not the rule. My only suggestion would be to really think about what type of riding you will do the most. You already have a great bike for jaunts around town. As you have no doubt read all over the place, nothing beats the Vision for touring.

Good luck and hope to see you on the road!

SE1 (Jon)...I had the SAME EXACT experience with R&B...I went over to meet the Nash Vegas riders and they were meeting at R&B's....Probably the VERY BEST DEALER I HAVE EVER BEEN IN!!!!! The crew there at R&B are great and like you said: Will spend hours talking to you about and giving you information about anything Vic!!

P.S. I know you will LOVE the Vision once you get it....When you do, come over to East Tennessee and let's ride the Dragon!!Or some of the other great roads here!! The Vision LOVES TWISTIES!!!

That is a very nice looking ride. Looks a little hard on my old back.

I had the same experience with a local dealer after I told them I was waiting to pay off my truck then get a Vision in eight months. After that every time I visited the store I was ignored. I can not believe I bought my Vision from them.

Since then that dealer is gone (out of business) a first class shop added Victory to its line of equipment here in San Antonio.

Go with your gut on dealers. I did not and paid the price for being to trusting. Thank goodness my new dealer is a straight shooter.

A old mentor of mine used to say "Minor surgery happens to other people. Any surgery I have 'Is MAJOR Surgery!'"

Take Care

Well, I had to. I test rode a 2010 Ultra Classic yesterday. I felt that I owe it to myself before committing $20,000+. The HD dealer is 10 miles from my front door. I like that, but that means that I would expect to have to take a HD to the shop a lot. Hmmmm. Anyway, I will say that It was another positive dealer experience. The sales woman knew her product, and had no problem walking me around the shop to show me all the used tourers, as well as the new. She insisted that I ride one (before Friday's surgery). I think she was thinking that it would set the hook in my mouth. Pulled it right off the show room floor, threw a helmet in my hand and said, "have fun," and I did. It wasn't unpleasant by any means. There was a familiar HD sound and feel that I have grown to love. The riding posture seemed very erect and my hands seemed low on the bars - comfortable but a little weird. The ride was smooth and comfortable. The wind buffeting was awful. The fairing and windshield may as well have been absent. The seat was thin and i could feel any changes in the pavement right up through my spine. There was enough power for me (I am beyond that hot-rod phase). The saddle bags were a PITA to open and close. Probably the most notable problem I had while riding was that the dash and gages and radio looked like they were 30 years old. Even the handle bar controls just seemed decadent. I kept having to remind myself that this was a brand new model. It is like HD just found some OLD parts and threw them on. It was so busy that it was almost distracting. Anyway, the HD Demo set the Vision Hook a little harder.

Just a little new owner info: Been on vacation this week and the weather in Indiana has been awesome. Anyway needless to say the Wife and I have been riding as much and often as possible. Long story short, with almost 1000 miles since this past Sunday on three separate outings we are still referring to them as "smiles". The Vision is the perfect bike for back road jaunts and hunting for a new place to eat out. Trust me you won't be sorry. Plus the Vision is the perfect ice breaker when you step off at your every stop. Conversations are great.
