Problem:
The brake pedal had a lot of slop from the factory. From the pics below you can see that it had approximately 2" of side-to-side play at the peg. This made it difficult to find the brake pedal in a panic stop situation.

Cause of Problem:
The nut bottoms out on the shoulder of the brake pivot bolt before it tightens the clevis. (I'm sure it was intended to be this way so the nut doesn't get accidentally tightened to the point where it will lock up the pedal.)

Fix:
Remove the bolt. Slip on a washer. Reinstall bolt. Tighten the nut.

Notes:
1. A standard washer will not fit. I found one that fits in the counter bore for the pivot bolt head. I drilled out the ID of the washer slightly larger than the bolt.
2. Be sure not to get the nut too tight or the brake lever will not return when released. I tightened until I felt a slight drag while operating the brake lever with my hand. Then I backed the nut off a little at time until the lever pivoted freely. The nut is a self locking type so it doesn't have to be cinched down (it won't vibrate loose). As you can see from the pics the play at the peg is now only 1/4"...huge improvement.
