Tucson, AZ | My Harley riding buddy and his wife have purchased a summer home in a suburb of Seattle. She will be flying up and he will follow along shortly thereafter on the HD to help her get the new house organized. He has invited me to ride up a week or so later and spend a few days with them a to tour the countryside. I will have to ride up by myself, but he and I will be riding back together. I've never had the opportunity to go to the northwest before and boy am I stoked! I'll be a long haul from Tucson to Seattle, and I plan on avoiding as much interstate as possible. Being retired I really don't have any time restrains so I can stop whenever. Like I said looking forward to this trip is making me giddy with anticipation.

Sounds like a good trip - ENJOY!
I'm envious. I started to plan out a September trip from Baltimore to San Antonio but now the Mrs. wants to go which means we'll be flying. Last year my mom said she would like to go to New Orleans with me. Didn't mind that quite so much since she turned 80 the next week and had never flown before. It was good to experience that with her. I do have to start waiting and just tell people where I'm at, instead of where I'm going. |

Bay of Gigs, WA | Don't know when you're coming, but it'll probably be safest (unfortunately) this time of year to hit I-5 as far south as you can, to avoid snow in the various mountain ranges. I know it sucks, but trust me, I-84 from Boise to Portland can have black ice which will make you wish you turned in the hubs before you left, WA state highway 12, over White Pass can be closed, as can I-90 over Snoqualmie intermittantly. Hitting I-5 in CA you only have to deal with the Siskiyus and the Sextons, which are bad enough, but should be clear this late in the year, but once through, it's smooth sailing up the Willamette Valley and right on up to Seattle. Now, since you're retired, perhaps a leisurely tour up Highway 101 on the coast? No matter what you do, pack for rain and cold, on account it be winter up here. We just had 2 weeks of sun and high 50's, but normally it socks in 'till spring. None the less, if it does clear for you (and I hope it does), be ready for some of the most spectacular scenery you'll ever see that for some reason rarely makes it into a calendar! (I recommend electric liners and gloves, despite the heat on the Vision, it's the laws of physics.) GLTY! |

| IMHO some of the best riding in the world is in the PNW. But man, you are coming at the wrong time of the year.
It you make out in the spring, summer, or fall, the North Western Washington Victory Motorcycle Club would love to show you some great rides!

Tucson, AZ | Hopefully I won't have to be too concerned about ice and snow as the trip is not planned until after Memorial Day. My Harley friend has driven over those passes you noted a few times and has found snow until midyear. For sure going to be prepared for some wet stuff. Almost impossible to avoid rain in that area of the country. The house they bought is in DuPont.
And yes I need to learn to post pics. |

| Since you have the time - highly recommend you come over to Hwy 1 - especially the Big Sur area - people come from around the world to ride Hwy 1 up the Calif coast. |

Tucson, AZ | That's the way we are coming back to Tucson. Looks like I'll be going to SLC then northwest to Portland then north on I-5 to DuPont. Found out today that I won't be leaving till the end of the first week of August.
With Fox news just now predicting $5 a gallon for gas in a few months, I may have to ask for some contributions! |
