I wonder if it would fit somewhere on the Vision besides in the tourpack. Dimensions are 9.7/8" x 14" x 3"

It might fit on one of the bag doors, would have to modify the door liner. Or may fit the trunk lid, again would need some liner mod.

The 14" dimension is going to make it hard to find a place to mount. There is an area under the seat to the left of the aluminum frame that is 4x6x9. I have been looking for a way to fill that space with a sub. The 6" dimension limits the size of the driver to 6" or less. That small of a subwoofer will probably not be noticable at 70mph.

I had a 10" in the trunk for a while and still had room for two jackets and the gf's purse. Sounded good at a standstill, but the low frequency sounds dissipated with speed. Since most of my riding is between 50 and 70mph, I didn't feel losing any trunk space was worth the small gain at that speed. Also, since the Vision has so much plastic, it caused many vibrations. I was prepared to fix all the rattles with foam if the 10" sub was worth it. Unfortunatley it was not.

There was a video in this forum of a system with spkrs where the mirrors go and a sub in the trunk. That particular setup probably sounds good. The square sub has more surface area than a round one giving you more bang for your buck. However, it took up the entire trunk. It was a very nice install and I'm sure it sounds great, but I'm not willing to lose all my cargo space in the trunk.

I have been looking all over the Vision for a place to mount a sub that is out of the way. If it's not in the trunk or bag, it needs to be marine grade because it will see the elements. That limits the options. JBL has a nice self-sealed, self-powered marine sub, but no place big enough outside the trunk.

I've been looking for a practical solution since I got the Vision in 2008. I keep coming up empty handed. I already have a mono line level output installed on my bike. I just need to find the right sub to plug to it.

The claimed power of the Boss is probably exaggerated. 900 peak/600 RMS??? Probably more like 75 peak. Can't say for sure since there are few creditable reviews on it. My 4 drivers are currently 75 each, so it's gonna take a true 150 watt sub to reach a level that is audibly compatible. I'm gonna look closer at the Boss, however, to see if there is a way I can make it work. Two of them might do it. For that price it would be worth experimenting.
