I was so proud.
I was so excited.

Got my new The new Vision 'Driver Cup Holder' today.

Can't mount the sumbi!th because the male threads on the RAM BALL Part # 2877371 are not the same size as the female threads on RAMBALL HANDLEBAR CLAMP Part # 2877372.

I am taking over to my company's machine shop and have the boys drill and tap it the right size.

Oh well. I'll mount it next weekend after I have the BONEHEADED thing fixed.

BONEHEADS!

Update:
I wasn't going to be defeated this early in the game.

Went over to the shop and got all the taps out.
As I figured, not just the wrong size but also two different types of threads.

I cut a new thread on the RAM BALL and then re-cut the threads on the RAMBALL HANDLEBAR CLAMP.
Works great now!

I am going to call my Dealer Monday so they can pass on the problem to Victory. (I wonder how many they had done before somebody installed it on the bike and found the problem?)

Going to put a drink in the cup holder and go riding now and try it out.
LATER!

I finally got a couple pic's in my gallery. Two of those have my answer to the cup holder problem. It's worth a look in my opinion.

From where you mounted it, it looks like you enjoy your coffee hot =).

Tim, I never drink while riding although it is possible from the side location. The cup doesn't heat up externally, and the coffee maintains temp in excess of 2 hours. If you remove the cup the RAM mount folds down and in so it isn't seen. On the plus side if you spill it only gets on the running board, lol.......

I put an open Coke (hid in that sleeve thing) in my 'Driver Cup Holder'.
Worked great!
No spilled Coke.

Then stopped and put "drivers" coffee cup in the thing.
Coke (no coffee around in evening) stayed in cup.

I more then likely looked like a boy scout riding around playing with the silly thing.

Bad side of test:
I don't like the looks at that location. But, hey it works and two twists on the handle and you can store it in the trunk.

Doctor says I need to drink more water..... I obeyed.

Oh yeah,
The new chrome 'Trunk Lock Button' thingy looks good. As well as the 'Front Fender Accent', the new chrome 'Engine Strap Cover', the 'Master Cylinder Cover', and other universal engine covers.

New chrome Rear Tipover Protection Covers, and mirror accents on backorder.

My dealer got the cup holder mount that replaces the lower part of the right front brake handlebar mount and the ball that screws into it but the cup holder wa on back order. We checked the ball and mount out and sure enough it has the same problem you found. I did some checking on the Ram Mount website and looks like Victory sent the dealers the RAM-B-236U which is a Ram Ball with 3/8-16 thread post and 1” ball. I think they should have sent the RAM-B-349U which is a Ram Base with M10 X 1.25 Pitch & 1” Ball. I think the threads in the mount are for a metric M10 size.

BINGO!

Yes, the threads in the mount are for a metric M10 size.
Also, one had the 1.25 pitch and the other had a 1.50 pitch.

One thing for sure they weren't made to work together.

In the mount there are three threaded holes. Are you saying they are all M10 size but at least on is at 1.25pitch and one is at 1.50 pitch? What about the third one?

All 3 holes have the same pitch.
However, the ball is different!

I cut the ball to match the pitch of the 3 holes. That being said; since the 3 holes were cut so badly they have to be recut too!!! The 3 holes looked like somebody cut them with a cheap worn out tap.

I don't remember which had the 1.25 and which had the 1.50. I was just happy it only cost me one beer to get my bother to unlock the shop on a Saturday... come to think of it, it was one of his beers I took from his frig.

I am happy motoring now with another accessory that I wanted.
It's like Christmas everyday when riding a Vision!

Is there a part number for this gizmo, and is it a Victory accessory? I need to find another catalog apparently.

It's in the 2009 catalog.

The Cup holder is 2876579, the Ram Ball is 2877371, the Ram Ball Handlebar clamp is 2877372. And priced, in order, at $34.99, $12.99, and $24.99. Ouch.

Regarding the ball mount for the cup holder, on the 2010 Vision I bought there are holes with plastic plugs in them, located on the top of the brake and cluck lever brackets next to the hinge. If you remove these plugs you will find it is threaded M10, the same as the thread on the stud of the Ram Ball. I noticed these the other day and when I was at my dealer I thought to try the Ram ball in that hole rather than installing the Ram bar clamp adapter. It worked great! You don't need the adapter at all on the 2010.

I noticed the shop owner's 10th anniversary has the same holes next to the levers. I don't think these holes exist on the 08 and 09 models, but there is no reason you couldn't drill and tap the same location with the correct metric thread and install the Ram ball the same way and skip the adapter as well. This will save you 25.00 if you can do the install yourself.

It appears these holes would be there for say an add on optional mirror, but I like my coffee more than an extra mirror. See what you think guys.

Just a little bit of info here, ALL of the above parts can be purchased at a much lower price at www.cyclegadgets.com

They carry just about all the RAM accessories you would want and even some yo probably don't plus they are great people to deal with!

Oh, and BTW, the tapped holes in the Victory handlebar clamp RAM ball adapter are tapped for 3/8-16NC thread so if you want to use the clamp adapter you have to buy the RAM ball with the 3/8 thread.
