I have short fingers and when I do a normal, relaxed grasp for the clutch lever I'm usually only catch it with the very tips of my fingers. I'm thinking that if I could just rotate the whole control group up, towards me, just a tad I would be able to get a more secure grab and not be afraid of slipping off someday.

My question is: If I loosen the mount clamps on the control assembly will it rotate or is it "keyed" in some fashion?

I know I can't go much because I need to keep the master cylinder somewhat level, but just a degree or two of rotation would make a big difference.

Might try placing a screw driver handle between the lever and the handle bar and bending the lever.

The control group is keyed to the handlebar by means of a pin that goes into a hole in the handlebar. I would think that you could either file the pin off, or elongate the hole if you wished, which would allow you to rotate the assembly a bit.

I have heard that the lever can and has broken while uning this prosess so the next time i applied slow steady pressure and that worked. If you need to bend the lever a lot this might not be the anwser.

I used the screwdriver and hand pressure to bend mine when I first got the bike. You have to be careful not the apply pressure at the end of the lever past the notch. Came out perfect. I was able to apply clutch with two fingers. Only thing was tha ball at the end made contact with the end of the handle bar. Not a problem at all. I don't normally pull the lever that far unless I'm sitting at a light. Than I did something REAL stupid. I had the lever covered with a rag to prevent marring it. I forgot about the relief cut, put the screwdriver handle at the end and pulled in the middle. My intention was to flair the end a little more. Broke the end right off. When I replaced it, I performed step one again and left well enough alone.
