Spirit Lake IA "Birthplace of Victory Motorcycles" | I recently converted my rear tail lamps to clear. I replaced stock bulbs, with LED's (92). They look awsome and are quite bright and distinctive looking. Only problem is that the top two turn signal lamps are wired for both signal and running lamps (OEM bulb must be 2 filament). With OEM setup, it is no big deal as the turn signal and running lamps are both red. I have heard that it is illegal to have amber running lamps on rear of vehicle (though it looks pretty cool!  ). I think there are three wires running to top turn signal sockets. I'm thinking that all I need to do is clip on wire on each side to disable the running lamp feature of the bulb (or alternatively disable one of the contacts on the base of the bulb).
1) Can you guys verify that it is indeed illegal in most states to run amber running lights on rear? I have seen semi's with amber running lights on sides, but never on rear.
2) What is the cleanest way to disable running light feature on turn signal bulb.
It's getting closer to riding weather in NW Iowa and I want to be READY!

| Amber turn indicators are legal on the rear if they are only used for signaling. Any light that is continuosly lit on the rear of any vehicle must be red. These are federal DOT regulations. |
