Hi all, Just bought an 09 ness vision. It was delivered 2/4/10. I test rode a vision 2 years ago in Iowa while on vacation and loved it. I have been an HD rider and racer for years (24). Right now HD has nothing that even interests me.
I have done tons of research on this bike and finally made the switch. Unfortunatly it's cold and snowy here and I can't ride it.
The purchase of this bike and the timing was unreal. I was in one dealer looking at the 8-ball vision and a buddy of mine was at another dealer just looking. We were both in a dealership 100 miles apart. He spotted the ness vision and called me. This bike was marked down to $18,999. The 8-ball was $17,999. Well it was a no brainer! I went on the following monday to get it. I made an offer on it and they said they didn't want to deal on it till after the telaconference with victory on Tuesday. I put money on it and they called tuesday afternoon to tell me victory added another $1000 off the bike as well as a 5 year waranty! I told them I would be there the next day to get it.
Here is where it gets unbelieveable. Tuesday night I get an e-mail from victory with a coupon for another $500 off the bike! BONUS!!!!!!!
I went on the next day to pay for it. After all rebates I got it for $19,104 out the door with a back rest, a $50 shirt, and delivered! I think it was just meant to be. Can't wait till the salt gets off the roads here.
Sorry for the long first post. Looking forward to talking with all you vision riders about mods for this bike.

Welcome #163.  I think a lot of us found ourselves in a situation with the Vision that was "meant to be".  You are gonna have a killer ride when the weather thaws out.  Mucho congrats.

Long post......pff.  That was nothin!

Sounds like it was made for ya ! Show us some pics when you get it ! Welcome to the club, be prepared for a pissed off wife/girlfriend/boyfriend for a few months since you'll be spending more time with the bike then with them !! Dont move into the garage, and start looking for parking places in front of resturants where you can see your bike and all the attention it gets.
congrats bud !

Fantastic story! What a deal! You are going to love the power and smooth ride. I came from a Harley too (way less experience than you), but the Vision's ride convinced me instantly to switch... and I have never looked back. Good choice!!

#163,

I have to add that I think the deal you got is the best I've ever heard of for a Vision off the showroom floor.  $6000 under sticker out the door, plus the backrest, shirt, delivered with a 5 year warranty looks pretty frickin unbeatable.  Good on you and good on your dealer.

Thanks for the warm welcome! I love to tinker with performance and look to the forums for advise as to what works and what don't. I have everything picked out but exhaust. The popping issue bothers me. I went through this with another bike and it cost me $$$$$$ trying to get rid of it. I can't stand it if it doesn't run like I want! Lloyd seams to be the guy to talk to on these machines. I have e-mailed him about what I want to do but I'm sure I'm 1 of 100 who did this last week.
The majority run ness big honkers and love them. If you go this route you also need tips. I like the CFR set up for sound and looks but can't find much info on them. Thundersticks sound good but I know the quality, fit and finish is poor( at least the harley stuff) plus on the dyno the thunderheader shows a nasty midrange dip. It could be diffrent on the victory though.

I'd hold out on the exhaust at least until we see what D&D has to offer. Read my post on the D&D Exhaust on this forum as well as the other two main forums. D&D has had my '08 Vision for about 3 weeks now and are thick in the middle of their R&D / Testing. I have been sending them the comments / suggestions / recommendations from all posters so please feel free to post your thoughts on what you would like D&D to accomplish with the Vision exhaust.

I've ordered a set of the CFR exhausts for my Vision. They said it would be 2 weeks before they are shipped out. The guy at CFR said the new system actually comes all the way out to the end of the bike instead of 3 inches short of it like in the youtube video on the net. The tips will be chrome. The only way you can order them is to call them. He said they are just developing their website so there is not much on there right now and no set up to be able to order online just yet.

I recommend that you call Lloyd and not buy anything till after that conversation. He can tell you what setup will give you the most bang for your buck for what you want.
Grats!

Don't listen to him, #163.... he's an idiot. Many of us log in here for the sole purpose of bashing folks for just about anything. For instance, offering a new guy a bit of reassurance is a certain target for ridicule.

Sorry, ScoreBo... I hope you took that the way it was intended. To make up for it, I'll buy you a beer at Roar on the Shore. I'll be on the Red Vision. Flag me down and tell me I owe you a beer.

I have time to research the exhaust thing. I do run a D&D fatcat pipe on my Roadglide and love the sound and performance. But that is a 2 into 1. I wonder if D&D is thinking a 2 into 1 with a dummy pipe for the other side. I would love to see someone do a dyno shoot-out with all the pipes for the vision
Lloyd did e-mail me back and he likes the thundersticks. He would be the perfect guy to do the shoot-out for us. He does have a few dyno runs with various pipes and the Ness Honkers look the be the winner. But there are a few pipes missing also.
Going to get this bike right before it hits the road. Got a few HDs I want to smoke!!!!!!!!!!
