Hello All - I am new to the site and just today took delivery of my new 2009 Vision Premium Street (Black on Black). I had assembled a bucnch of goodies as I was in waiting and one was a passenger backrest that I got on ebay - no instructions and have figured it out down to the bolts - but how the h%$# does it go through the tour pack cover behind the license plate. Cut out maybe? but still thats a big bracket cutout that would have to take place. Your help would be appreciated. Arghhhhh

i know a man that has a vision. He to installed a backrest on his. He had to cut the panel to make it work. I think that you can buy another panel from dealer. Last i was told it would be $100.

Good Luck

You need to cut the panel. To do that you need the paper template that comes with the back rest. You also need 2 long rubber sleeves, grommets, or whatever you call them to cover up the notches you cut out. These rubber sleeves allow the backrest to pass through which makes the whole thing look "clean". Do a search and you should find more info on this subject.

and cut very carefully with a dremel...or have a body shop do it for you.
You need nice smooth edges. Slide they rubber grommets on with some dishsoap and water

just did mine 2 weeks ago

Big Vic is correct I too have a Black Street Premium with passenger backrest. What he tells you is correct.
also with Salty cut sparingly and carefully its not rocket science but cleaner always looks nicer.

You can have a nice looking Vision parked next to you, but if you get on the bike with a booger hanging out your nose, thats all anyone remembers ha ha ha

I completely covered the show side with painters tape and used a band-saw instead of a Dremel Tool. I drilled small holes in the corners then used the band saw to connect the dots. This method left super clean cuts and straight lines. I'm sure a Dremel Tool works but there is also greater risk of the rotating bit catching and going of course.
