A guy named Andy Mills has done the last two Iron Butt Rallies on a Vision Tour with an aux tank in the trunk.  Don't know of anyone that's done it with a Street.  Here is his website, might get some good info from him:  http://www.ironbuttmills.com/

After the 250 miles allowed with the stock tank, im ready to get off and stretch a little. I cant see going much further without a small break anyway, but to each his own i guess.

If I tryed to ride 250 miles on my stock tank I'd be pushing the last 40 miles

That is because you are going uphill all the time......try downhill ,it boosts the gas milage per tank......

And how many miles can you go before you need to pee and drink? I guess there is always wearing a Depends? :P
I did a day of 1000 miles in 17 hours and 15 of them in the saddle. How many more can you get that way?

I did 1,036 in 15 hours with at least 14 1/2 being in the saddle. Only stopped to gas, sip, bite and pee, not necessarily in that order. But, we only stopped because we had to get gas. On the Vision I could easily go 4 or 5 hours if I had the tank capacity, however, for sanity sake, 3 hours is good.
