Hey Gang,
I did a Vision test ride at the Cumming, GA Victory dealer.
At the dealer I met Jeff and his crew. The people there were very kind and while the demo bike was not there, another customer had it, Jeff opened up the big trailer that contained another Vision for me to test ride (this looked like it was a bit of a PIA for Jeff so I appreciate his extra effort).

Keep in mind that I have come from a Honda GL1800 Goldwing.

The Ride-
The day was a cool crisp sunny day. Perfect for testing the heated seat and grips.
Armed with my IPOD and riding gear I hit the road.
Right away I could tell I was on a very nimble bike and I take the Vision over the Wing for slow speed maneuvering. When going into a sweeper turn the Vision seemed like it had a mental link to my peanut brain and was effortless. The balance was fantastic. My wing always wanted to stir off to the right, not the Vision.
There are a lot of buttons but they are well organized. My only problem was when I kept hitting the horn when I was thinking that I was hitting the turn signal (I’m used to the Wing’s switches).
The suspension feels solid but not rigidly harsh. I had to have my Wing’s suspension
modified by installing the Traxxion system ($2,500) . I won’t need to do anything to the Vision’s suspension.
The radio- With my IPOD, the radio sounded better than my Wing’s radio.
Ergonomics- The Vision feels good in the seat, legs, back and hands.
The grips fit my hand very well. The floorboards are great with enough room to stretch my legs. The seat is narrow and wide where it needs to be. I didn’t get the pitched muscles between my shoulders after riding for 30 minutes like I did with the Wing.
Vibration- Well, it’s a V-Twin so I expected to have some but it was less that I expected.
All in a nutshell, The ride and ergonomics are superior to the Wing. I liked the Vision and plan to buy one when I can.

Sounds like you went in with an open mind, and got fair and balanced results from your test ride. While you may be personally surprised at your experience, none of us are. The only thing we can offer you is, WELCOME, and IT ONLY GETS BETTER !!

I was under the opinion the Goldwing was the best tour bike out there. Was I was just getting tired of it? Was it missing something?

I’ve always liked cruisers and I had a V-Twin Vulcan 1500 when I purchased the Wing.

When I tested the Vision, right a way I was set back with the excellent ergonomics and comfort of the bike. The next thing I noticed was the stability and agility of the bike.

The Goldwing has more grunt but The Vision can modified with a few parts to bring the HP/Torque up the same class as the Wing.

I love to ride and I love all bikes. This time around I’d like to buy American not just built in America (the Wing was built in Ohio).

There were three bikes that I was considering: The Vision, the HD Ultra and the Kaw Voyager (yeah the Kaw is a Asian Metric but I liked it).

My Wife sat on the HD Ultra and winced in pain (back issues).

Next, I tested the Voyager. I didn’t like how flimsy that the trunk and bags were.

The latest was the Vision. The Vision (in my opinion) has a great ride and blows away the Wing in Ergo’s and comfort and Agility.

Just how I see it and thanks for the welcome.

Mongo....i come from a Goldwing also and right now it's up for sale.
I agree with your run down of your test ride 100%...Especialy the part about the pintch muscles between the shoulder blades..
Been riding the goldwing for about 10 years now and rented a HD Ultra for 7 days in Orllando...Had a nice trip on both side of the coast , like the ride to Keywest..
My next ride , i will be gone for a month..will be doing the Four Corners of the US....And i chose to do it on a Victory Vision..
Got a down payment on it and will be here in the next fiew weeks...the only sad thing about it,,it will have to stay in the crate till April..
Boy it's going to be a very long winter this year..lol
That's how much i like the test drive..i was looking for something different and better...and i found it..LOL

The big question for Mongo is what color team are you going to play on? The hot sexy black team, the cool relaxed tranquil blue team,
the purist angel white team, decisions decisions decisions

Lojak,

I sold the Wing last week. So after I pay off the Car I'm getting the bike.

Good luck selling the bike. Try listing it on GL1800riders.com

Thanks

McDonough! Where the heck have you been Lone Ranger? We have a group of between 10-20 Vics that ride just about every weekend somewhere... Saturday is a BBQ run to Dean's BBQ in Jonesboro, 2:00pm meet up.

1Atom12 - Thanks for the invite!  Unfortuntately, I am a geographic bachelor - being stationed around Atlanta with the army, and with a wife 250 miles away in Alabama.  So I'm almost never in McDonough on weekends - I jump on the Vision and head west every Friday night and get back LATE Sunday.

Mongo - I'll give you a call from my 205 number.
