| Should I just go to a trusted auto painter? Or go to the dealer? or does Victory sell the black panels that come on the Ness Vision (or new 8-ball?) I can not get a straight answer on that?
One dealer told me the only piece I can buy is the dash/radio console in gloss black. Does everybody else have theirs painted by an auto body shop??
ALSO*** are those panels hard to remove/install? Any videos of that?

Rockford, IL | Any good collision facility can easily paint the panels. Victory doesn't sell the panels in black, they only sell them in the brushed silver or chrome. You can purchase the speedo cluster trim in gloss black, but not the radio console, however if you are painting the rest of the panels you might as well have the cluster trim painted at the same time.
It is not difficult to remove all of the trim panels. However it is a bit of a time consumer. Slow steady and patience will be the most important tool you will need. | Thank you. Local dealer is $270 to remove and install new ones. Waiting to get a quote on paint. I am thinking I will black out everything (rear end and grab handles already done...nice) but I am leaning towards chrome for the large panels with the lit badges--everything else black. Thanks for advice. If dealer paint quote is too high I will shop around. Thanks.
Anybody have pics of all blacked out but leaving the silver (or chrome) for panels with lit badges?
Oh, and a dark tint on windshield??

Fargo, ND | I color matched all the panels on my bike except the silver ones behind the lit badges, and love the clean look. You can check it out on the "Gallery" page. Mine is Midnight Cherry though, not black. I took all the panels off myself. It took awhile, but was not hard to do. Some bad news on the windshield though. The vinyl window tint film will not work on anything other than glass because of the adhesive they use and the cleaning methods required. Don't try it or you'll be buying a new windshield.

| You might want to chck around online for someone who does the chrome powder coating. It is powder coating but looks like colored chrome. They do multiple colors and it looks really sharp..... JMO |

Bancroft Ontario, Canada | I blacked out all my front panels, rear handles and rear lowers....chrome panels around engine and rear tip overs.....had black paint applied at auto body shop...phatt black is the colour....i like the clean look ....

Woodland Hills, CA | I blacked mine out as well (all the grey/silver), and even tinted the front turn signal lenses. I also took the Victory badges off the side for a very clean look. You can see it in the gallery. I still plan to black out the front forks, handlebars and controls, and rims, but will use flat black for these areas. Stay tuned........ |

| Wizard523--- nice! Did you use the spray on tint for the lenses? If so, do you do it in place, or do you take them out and spray them? I like that look. What did you use?

| Call around to your local tint shops you can tint plastic, I have tinted shields on other bikes and did it all the time when doing custom car interior. Just make sure they know what they are doing.

Started by painting the rear trim down are the rear bottom of the bike. Then painted the dash and gauge bezel. What a huge improvement on looks and glare.
I had wanted to powder coat it all in Gloss Black but learned that plastic cannot be powdercoated, (but it can be chromed) because of the 400 degree curing process. When I removed the front "V" brushed panel on the front of the Vision above the headlight, I saw that the brackets were actually "glued" on. I thought this would prevent having it powdercoated.
But, to my surprise, I learned that that "glue" holding on the brackets would survive the powdercoating process! So I took all my silver brushed panels off, and trotted down to a highly recommended powdercoat shop here in W Phx and turned him loose. I picked the parts (dash, front panel, side panels and ft wheel opening trim, 6 pieces total) today and was I amazed! No orange peel (as I expected) and each piece is finished, front and back in a black gloss w/ clearcoat (powdercoat) finish that is nearly bulletproof. Each piece looks like black glass.
The only piece I haven't done is the side wraps around the sides of the engine that has the Victory Logo light. They are the most difficult to remove, but I actually like them silver. If I change my mind, they're coming off and getting done as well.
I'm thrilled with the powdercoat shop, and the price for the 6 panels= $90. When done, I'll post pics. Re-assembling tonite. SP

Iowa | I blacked out my panels as well using dupount finishes, I tinted my windshield by tinting the clear with a black base, I also cut my stock shield down 2.5". this was not an easy process as cutting the plastic leaves a jagged edge making for alot of work.I also painted the gauge bezel but masking the chrome around the gauge, this is a matt black finish, also the part around the engine is matt black. check out my pic.s in the photo gallery. |

Ruskin, Fl | I had my damaged windshied cut down at a plastics place. $35 and a smooth edge. Everythin black except the forks now. I tried the removable vinyl tint. stays on by static cling or something. Lookd good from a distance, but it's very thick ans didn't look good up close. The photo with the tint is before I replaced the tires and had the rims powder coated black. Also has the rear pully and belt guard done at the same time.

Litchfield Park, AZ | Pully and Belt guard is a good idea. Hadn't thought of that. I went to the Cee Baily smoke windshield and their headlight protector. I love em both! Perfect fit and look great. Even the headlight shield. Makes so much sense to use it for $40 rather than replace the OEM headlight lense for $400 (so I'm told. ) Pics Will follow. SP |

Prescott, Az | I had mine blacked out and added some chrome and Kewlmetal aftermarkewt pieces and I think it looks great. A local painter did the work and just used gloss black. I had the dealer take off the pieces because I would have ruined them.

Tacoma, WA | Initially, I just powder coated all my aluminum panels. I ended up going with chrome ones though, as I like the better contrast. I kept the dash panel black. It reduces the glare to about zero. ------Metalguy |

I just got my bike done.
it is a black tp
I powdered coated all the silvedr panels except the passenger handles, which I painted. Powder coated pieces tend to hold up better in weather bugs and stones.
The handles are plastic and cannot be powder coated,
I also swapped some painted panel from my dealer.
Here is the fisnished product.What do you think? |

Marysville Washngton | In stark contrast to all the folks going all black, which I think looks really good, I am doing all of my silver parts in a gloss white. I have the Blue Ice bike and am going for the old school two tone look. I still have to get the grab handles and floor boards off but everything else is off and in process. Should be interesting. |

| I recently had all the silver aluminum parts powder coated black, except for the hand rails which were painted because they are plastic and could not be powder coated..
I powder coated them because I was advised thaqt powder coating on parts that take road abuse like the front grill will hold up better.
The disadvantage of powder coating is that you tend to get a more orange peel finish in the paint than your plastic painted panels.
While i had the bike disassembled, I did an exchange for some custom painted saddle bag panels, front outside fairing panels and the plate behind the seat. if I attach my photvo correctly you might see the outcome.
