Answered my own question. I divided the Green/Pink wire as it rises to go to the trunk lights. Then I connected the Brown output to the distal segment and the right light works perfectly. So, you tap splice the Green/Pink in the main buncle of the light harness, leaving this main Green/Pink intact. But on the rising Green/Pink heading uphill to the trunk, you divide the wire.

I went the other direction.  I installed a "stinger" LED stop/turn bar  in the space under the chromed piece on the trunk.  It has break LEDs in the center and 6 yellow turn LEDs on each end.  The low current draw of the LEDs allowd me to tap into the wire harness under the seat on the right side.  There is also an optional connection that would have allowed a "running/dtop" configuration for the center.

I was the wondering if after installing the 4710, if I would be able to easily remove the trunk and run my backrest (Street style) without unhooking a bunch of wiring? I am planning on going back and forth between the tour and street this year depending an where I am going to ride.

THANKS AND RIDE SAFE, Mike

DecTec-

Some details on the Stinger unit.....

Model or part #s? Where did you purchase? Price? Etc...

How did it install? Two-sided tape?

Can you take some up-close pictures showing the install? And the gap between the lid and the Stinger?

I purchased the light bar from Custom Dynamics  (Amber, 12 Red, 6 Amber Integrated LED Light Bar Item #: ST6126ARA  $69.95)  http://www.customdynamics.com/integrated_led_light_bars.htm

The  strip comes with 3m adhesive tape on three sides along with tap splices and a unit to make it  into a running/stop combination that I did not use to increase the "stop" factor.

I removed the inner trunk lid and ran the wirs through two 3/32 holes I drilled into the exterior lip and secured the strip with the self adhesive stips.  The wires were fed along the existing wire run for the trunk lights and tapped to the harness under the right side of the seat.

in all it was only a few hours to complete.

Another plus is the amber LEDs are visible when the trunk is open and the 4 ways are on.

I have decided to sell the Kuryakin 4710 I ordered as I am going to turn my Vision into a street for next summer. See the classified.

firehawk, thanks from me too my friend! I just purchased my first Vision ('08 Tour Premium~Siper Steel Gray). It actually doesn't ship out from the dealer until this Tuesday but I was already trying to figure out how to do what you already achieved. I just found your post tonight and placed my order a few minutes ago. Thanks for doing all the thinking for me. I'll be able to get right on that by the time my bike arrives.

I just did the upgrade and wanted to thank Firehawk for the excellent pictures and directions! Great job and a relatively simple install. Here's a few comments:

I didn't put connectors on the wires I cut going to the left - didn't care about returning it to factory condition - but if I want to - I'll just have to put the connectors on then

It was a bit confusing regarding the green/pink down near the bundle of wires under the seat. I made the same mistake as others, cutting the green/pink at the bundle and using those ends to run to the kurakyn. Obviously, that gives flakey results - so I re-joined those, put a Posi-Tap on the Green/Pink at the under seat bundle, found the green/pink going up and used a posi-link there to the Kurakyn output.

Green/Pink - you tap it at the underseat bundle, you cut and splice it going up to the trunk lights and then you cut it and run a new wire down for the left light.

I also put a connector at hinge, where you disconnect the lights if taking off the trunk.

works like a charm and Polaris should have wired it this way to begin with for sure.

Ya this is a must do. but I have a concern about warranty. seems like you gentlemen have had your share of problems in this department. I am very new to Victory & would appreciate any thoughts on the subject.

For those who haven't done this mod it is WELL WORTH the 3 hours to do....However, a NOTE for '09 bikes:

While doing the mod based on Firehawks GREAT pdf file. I found one hiccup (I guess only for the '09 models) when splicing the green/pink wire UNDER the seat DO NOT CUT THE WIRE use a tap splice and just use it to feed power to the 4710 module. Then trace the wire bundle up to an area right before it goes up into the tour pack and find the green/pink wire, here is where you CUT IT and place a scotch lock (spade connector) on the wire going UP TO THE TOUR PACK and tape the wire going back towards the main wire harness so it won't short to anything.

Other than that this is a GREAT mod and should make the rear of the motorcycle seen more readily when braking, turning or using the hazard lights.
