Is it me...or do people just not talking about the fix to rid ourselves of the rev limit in 6th gear? I have asked a few times and get ZERO answers from people I would expect to be in the know.

Those that do answer try hard to make it look like they don't know but I have this gut feeling they aren't supposed to or don't want to say something.

Fact is, I am sure its a simple adjustment when working with the computer wrench.

Does anyone actually have any info on this and why we haven't come up with a hack for it yet?

It is limited to 122 in 6th gear. That I know of there is only one Vision that has had a switch put in to change the ECM to read the indicator as being in 5th. When the system is ready then you will hear about it

When I first had the upgrade done, I played tag with the rev limiter all day, especially in first and second.
After a while, you get used to it and hit it less.
Wouldn't mind having having it bumped to like 6000 though in all gears.

This seems like a good place to ask: how you determine when you are going to shift up and what method do you use for downshifting? I have only been riding for about five years and I don't have a group of people to compare myself to. I usually follow the owners manual. I just wonder if there's some excitment that I'm missing. Bob

topeye, there is no magic formula you just develop a feel. For most riding the owners manual is about right in my opinion. If you want to get someplace a lot quicker hold on to each gear a little longer. Worst case you bounce off the rev limiter and you'll know you've hit it, lol.
So no you aren't missing anything and I can't imagine why anyone would need the rev limiter raised above the stock setting unless they are drag racing the bike. At speeds over 90 the Vision becomes a little to lite and twitchy so anyone riding at those speeds regularly on the road, well their pushing their luck. JMO
Now I would like to see the rev limiter raised on lower gears. I've bounced first and second far too many times and quite frankly 3rd could be held a bit longer. If the motor is still pulling strong it shouldn't be bouncing the limiter. Again JMO

Like he mentioned, it's something you're going to have to find by feel. Not every bike pulls the same and not every rider+riding gear is the same weight. I tend to ride in the higher RPM's because I have a lot more ass to haul. LOL I like the way my bike pulls after about 2krpm. After that it was all about getting a feel for when the bike was cruising fast enough in each gear to keep me in the 2Krpm range after each up-shift. Balancing this with the fact that I don't want to run in highest RPM bands all the time, I've kinda found where I wanna be shifting. It's also helpful for you to study this before you decide to try to "launch" your bike and not waste the tire. Honestly, this is useful info for you as a defensive driver (the need will arise). Also, it's just plain fun! You can fiddle with your bike and find your torque "sweet spots". Get a feel for it in the first couple gears and the rest will become more obvious to you. Also, conditions change and can contribute to it alot. Riding in cooler weather CAN add quite a bit to your HP/Torque (kinda like having a "cold air intake", which BTW the Vision basically has). So you may be able to come off the throttle a little sooner on a colder day. In my experience it doesn't make that much difference but some claim a lot of gains in colder air.
