Meadow, Texas | Just a little bit of information for all to look at. I got in my latest edition of Motorcycle Cruiser and on the front was a 2009 Blue Ice(?) Victory Vision and before I had a chance to open it up the CINC House grabbed it up and told me that she was going to read it first. She was the one that first mentioned checking out alternate tourers, instead of the standard Wing and Glides, so I guess I'll let her read it first (keeping peace in the home).
But back to the article - very good reviews for all the machines but the Vision had some of the highest praise. The others that were reviewed were the HD Electra Glide, Kawasaki Voyager, Yamaha Star Venture and on a side bar - the newest Wing.

And as for me, still new to the posts and still waiting for my Vision to show up. Currently on a VTX but luckily for me my dealer lets me con them into a ride once in awhile. But from my point, I cannot wait until it shows. But until then I'll just keep lurking and reading these posts so I can learn a bit more about this fine machine.

Perry Hall, MD | Had an envious Triumph rider provide me with a copy of the Motorcycle Cruiser review.
All of the comparison reviews that I've ever read place the Vision as the top choice unless the score is weighted to style (has to have the nostalgic H-D look) or concern about the availability of parts and service (UK review).
Feel like I'm going to start looking like the Joker as my smile gets wider with every mile I put on it. Didn't even mind doing the squiggly worm on the ice last week because I was still on this bike (although I was glad not to have traffic coming at me). |

New Bohemia, VA | I had two totally unbias people admire my vision this morning and one said his friend who had a RK was getting rid of it to get the Vision. Since the guy had never seen one he was able look at mine up close. They thought it looked heavy, but I told them that was the beauty of it, it looks heavy, and handles light. He also said he was getting the Vision because of the comfort and he wanted to know how many miles I had on it. He was a little taken back when I told him 56,000 in under two years. My friend standing there said that he knows I ride all the time, rain, cold, and to anywhere. The other thing the friend with the RK said was you'd either love or hate the look.
I've not read the MCruiser review, but I take them all with a grain of salt. The Vision undoubtly speaks for itself and the best pitch for the Vision is the pilot himself...

San Antonio, TX | I just got it in the mail yesterday and first thing I noticed is that the Ice Blue Vision on the front cover had the left Lower Wind Deflector broken off.
I just had to laugh!

| The thing with these reviews is they are only as good as ones interest. If you are a VTwin guy then the review would be of some interest. However I think most folks turn to sites like this one when they begin seriously considering a bike. A week of riding a new bike really doesn't give any feedback other than ergo's comfort and finish. A site like this provides a more long term picture of what one could expect. Great bike for sure but I hate comparisons or pitting one against another. They all bring something to the table just depends on personal likes/dislikes. |

Omaha, NE | I have to agree with Teach. My gal and I were in San Francisco last week and rented a Gold Wing from Eagle Riders for a day. While I would complain about having no room for my boots and no change in foot position, the smooth power from it was intoxicating. I just marveled at the torque the power plant put out. Plus, it had a great throaty exhaust note. It handled very well at speed through the twisty turns and having the suspension adjustment was sure handy. That being said, I would not be able to make a proclamation one way or the other on owning or recommending one. |

New Bohemia, VA | I would not disagree that forums like this one has value, the value is there, but the depth and breath of influence must be taken into consideration. Not everyone who owns a bike is on a forum, in fact, I would venture to say that most riders don't even frequent a forum, if they even have access to the internet. Also, there is no "face" value in the forum as you don't even know if the person even owns the bike he talking about. Also, there hundreds of thousands of posts and for someone to get any meaningful information would be hard pressed to do.
In fact, anymore, it would be hard pressed to collect all the information on any motorcycle in any forum to make a true decision as to which bike I would buy. My fasination with the Vision came at a time when I was looking at going "new" on a touring bike. I was itching and wanted one now! That was in late winter of 2007, around Febuary or so and I was ready to start looking at a Goldwing and I was set that was the route I was going. Big bike, plenty of power, cool stuff, etc. However, it was an article on the Vision long before it was made physically public that changed my mind. The 26.5 inch seat height had it sold sight unseen. The narrow width of the V-Twin had it sold, sight unseen. The reliability from first hand accounts of Victory owners had it sold sight unseen. Forums and reviews will drive a person batty trying to figure out what it is they want, if they really don't know what they want.
My only regret is not having rode a GL1800 prior to buying a Vision, however, having sat on one made me realize that I would not have been as happy on the road as I have been on the Vision. To this day I cannot find any fault in my machine that even gives a ray of regret in my decision. I say try them all first, and then try the Vision if you are looking for a long haul machine that is dependable. Take to people face to face who own the product and hear what they have to say. Those are the things that makes the decision much more assured then reading bias words on the internet or a review.

I will agree Mongo, as I did, but everything has to be measured twice to cut once. Depending on what is the top of the forum at the time is what folks read and it might not be the good things at the moment, so they come away from with the negatives.
I've got a dead jeep wrangler so I went to the forum to get information and most of the post were "why did I buy a jeep" type posts. I'm not looking for that, I looking for short cuts on how to fix my jeep, but it is so full of negative comments from disgruntled owners that I can get to what I need. Even with a dead jeep in the drive, and all the negative comments, I still want my jeep and I want to fix it and so far the forum has not helped me do that. |

| varyder maybe my own personal purchase would add to what I've stated for some additional clarity. I had seen pictures in a few magazines, initial thought was nope, then maybe then it ain't half bad. When I finally saw one in person I was intrigued and still not sure about the looks, but sitting on it provided an opinion on ergo's. I finally got around to riding one. Now mind you I was riding a year old Road Glide thats handling was top shelf, have ridden more GL1800's than you could shake a stick at and my ONLY concern was not getting my personals fried off. I wanted to stay with a cruiser platform and twin so the GL wasn't going to work and the option was to replace the stock headpipe on the RG with a true dual pipe. Rode the Vision and it was exactly what I had expected it to be. Did some searching here and was sold. |

Pitt Meadows, BC Canada | OK. But even my dealer didn't know about this site AFTER I bought mine. And I don't trust 'expert' opinion - never saw an UNBIASED expert.
I saw. I liked. I bought. Never test drove. Never saw one live.
If it turned out I didn't like what I bought - I would sell at the first opportunity. Take my lumps - and move on. I purchased 21 bikes this way - never had a bad one. Same with cars, and women (well - those I saw in the flesh) . Lucky, I guess..... |

I think I read them as stating only 3 out of 4 deflectors survived. That means they broke the 2 standard deflectors underneath the mirrors off too? How did they manage that?

San Antonio, TX | I could see that in the other pictures. How did they break off the stock upper deflectors. I have heard about them just falling off because the screws backed out.
Oh well, this must of been some group of riders. They totaled a Goldwing, smashed 3 out of four wind deflectors on the Vision and one guy complained that the Vision could not handle at slow speeds because he drags his feet and they get caught on the rear tipover. At slow speeds my feet do not leave the floorboards.
If the Vision is going down at low speeds and you can not get it back up or give it power. DO NOT PUT YOUR FEET DOWN! Just let it go and pick it up when it stops.
