East TN | OK, need some input here regarding cams for my '09 Vision... I have read ever since getting my Vision about Lloyd's cams and how they improve the HP/TQ numbers and fuel MPG...I was talking to some guys this weekend and they suggested getting S&S 495 cams and get them installed...They implied that Lloyds cams were just a renamed set of cams from somebody else....I assumed that he machined them himself for his special touch...
Should I get the S&S 495 cams or get Lloyds cams? Which would provide better numbers? IS there any differnece in the cams??? I am hoping to have this done as a winter project, and really don't want to spent two ro three days down in Gainesville, when I could possibly get it done close to home plus it's GATOR COUNTRY (Go Vols  ) ...No offense KevinX, just a long haul....

Omaha, NE | If I remember a previous thread about this subject, play it safe and get the Lloyd's. He is dedicated to the Victory power plant. The thread also mentioned some things about the S&S that weren't favorable. I think Kevin X posted that response. |

Gainesville Fl Home of the Gators | Sounds like your friends have absolutly no idea of what they are talking about.....
The Lloyds VM1 cams were designed from the ground up by Lloydz with the help of some of the best cam designers in the OHC racing world. Make no mistake. They are ONLY available through Lloydz, and are nothing like any other grind on the market.
The 495 is a decent grind for a light bike that has a minimum of 10.25cr. Below that the cylinder filling, and pressure are killed from to much lift, and overlap. This means no torque on the bottom half of the curve, and is not what you want in a bike that weighs in at 750+. The 495 cams do not even begin to work until you hit 3700RPM
All this would make me think even harder about who I wanted doing my cams. If they have no grasp of the basics of engine performance. What is going to happen when it comes time for the work |

That is why I posted the question on ALL three Forums (VMC, VOG, and Vision Riders) I have NO REAL clue as it comes to the techincal side of cams I just know how they work and why I want them..Thanks for the answer and help...I'll be giving you a call once I see I have the funds and then I'll plan the time to come down to the Swamp...
after the Gators beat the Vols this weekend!!

From what I'vee been told it takes about 7 to 8 hours to do the entire job (cams, cam carriers, VFC, and air intake)...Yes you need a fuel controller...As far a pipes, I would guess RUN WHAT YOU BRUNG!!! |
