Arkansas | Had the opportunity today, since we've had 11 days of rain here, to drive through about 40 yards of water over the road. Water was not moving- I could see the center stripe through it. I said I had the opportunity, but I elected to not attempt it due to what I imagined might happen just behind front tire; battery being right there and all...! We took a detour- but I really did want to try the adventure. Has anyone done this? The water was about 6 to 7 inches deep.
Would like to know if this can be done without too much concern and no harm to bike. Again-water NOT moving!
I've done this without concern on smaller naked bikes in past, but the electrics were not at sump level.

Boydsville, AR United States | 6" to 7 "? You go first and let me know how that worked for you. It could have some slime there, and you dump your bike. Try and right that in the water. Detour was smart move. Now in my 4X4, well thats completly diferent! |

So Cal | When it rains in LA the sewer system cant handle it. many of the streets are flooded with about 6" of water. Never had a problem. I'm originally from Pa. and the native CA drivers treat rain like it was snow. |

New Bohemia, VA | For the most part the bike is designed to be exposed to the elements. Myself as well as others have riden in heavy downpours without adverse affect. I do not see riding through 7 inches of water to cause any harm, however, be aware what you are really riding through and there is no hidden hazard like a huge sink hole or missing bridge. If avoidable, I would not ride through water just for the fun of it. |

Brighton, TN | Squeeze your sphincter and smile like you just picked the bike up for the first time at the dealer. Once again, bike will amaze you. I'm sure it has more to do with the tires than the bike, but it is just the total package.
A little over a year ago, I had gone to lunch and on my way back got caught in a Monsoon, toad drowning downpour. Pulled over at a gas station to don my jacket, dude steps out and tells me I am welcome to stay until it lets up. I should have taken his generosity, instead needed to get back to the grind. I pull out and make a left hand turn, get going upwards of 45 mph, can barely see the road, the lane I'm in is totally flooded and a car next to me, so no where to go. Grit my teeth and steady throttle I had water coming in through the front of the fairing, hitting the pants leg above the boots and drenching my socks. I was quite wet and amazed. If it hydroplaned it had to be very little. The bike was steady and planted. Probably traveled close to 30 yards through that. Once I did that most water doesn't even raise my eyebrows.
Recently as last weekend, I rode home to Tennessee from DC. Day light riding, good riding, when the sun went down. The bottom of the bucket fell out. Riding at 60mph or better through it all on the interstate. The duffel bag behind me on the seat was drenched. I got the opportunity to do that for the better part of 6-8 hours. With a half helmet on, I was able to consume a gallon of water per hour just by licking my mustache and opening my mouth. Wow!
After all that, I have had no electrical problems or other issues. |

Pittsburgh, PA | knowing my luck, if i did that. (rode through water that deep) my vision would stall out in the middle of it and i would have to put my feet down and push.. lol |

Aubrey, TX | I rode through a deep puddle on accident..I was going about 30-40..I could not tell how deep it was.I was riding behind a fellow rider..I had never had this happened to me before but I found that the fork tunnel inside the fairing acted as a funnel and shot water like a wave up on my wife and I. It sucked. |

Arkansas | Had I ridden through the flooded road I mentioned, I would have gone at a walking pace so it wouldn't splash. I just had this vision (no pun intended) of a wave flowing over the battery and terminal connectors. Didn't seem prudent, but I guess others have found that it is doable in certain instances without much consequence. Thanks again for the input. |

Reno County, KS | Yeah, she'll do it. I had to traverse standing water in a dip that was flowing up to the exhaust last year during a long road trip. I got off the bike and and found the fringes of the dip in the dark with a flashlight. If I had ran straight through it I would have been up to my ankles on the bike. I'll bet that she would have still made it. I'd be worried about engine cracks from cold water the whole time but I'll bet that she can take it at least once or twice. The intake is right behind the headlights and as long as you keep the RPM up you can keep the exhaust flowin'. She needed a wash afterwards but had no problems crossing.

| Rode in a severe storm today standing water on the road and deep run off. I didn't even slow a little. The Vision holds wet roads like its hooked to a rail. Very very planted.
The ONLY issue you might encounter from riding in the wet is a false "Low oil" light. The sending unit sits on the lower back left side of the motor and has a vent port stamped in it. It can get damp which results ina false oil indication. Won't cause any issues and the bike is safe to continue riding, but its nice to know this can occur. |

New Bohemia, VA | Just rode through a sheeted downpour for an hour and half hot on the tail of a harley. Zero hiccups, or false lights, etc. Just soaked to the bone. Had to ride another 1 1/2 hours in the rain to get home. Check the Va weather map and guess where all that stuff was around 7 - 8:30 pm. |
