Just came across these wood laminated panels from a california bike shop. Called them up to see whats up-really nice product -they send you the finish of your choice and you install and return your stock panels to them for a credit refund. Cost is very high at $2000.00 (thats not a misprint). Has anyone ordered these and installed them and is it worth the money-do they stand up well to the elements. Note they are a laminated wood finish which is then covered and polished with some type of clear finish. These are very distintive. Check out the links to Cycle Dragon in the links section.

I'm glad you pointed that out. I thought about having them covered with a Cherry woodgrain but now that I see what they look like I changed my mind. Looking for something else now...

That's way too much $$'s. RacerShawn does great work with his vinyl graphics (which I believe this wood is too) for $135. $2,000 would buy an incredible custom paint job for a Vision.

Kenandpen-saw your photos-looks good on the tank panel but there is no comparison to the product offered by Cycle Dragon. They also do the dash on the faring and the tops of the lever resovoirs on the grips. It may be extravagant but I found some extra cash and will probably order these-check out the web site for Dragon Cysle on the links under Vision kits.

Probie,
I too have been in contact with David at Cycle Dragon reference their woodgrain trim kits. I'm looking at the Birdseye Maple for my midnight cherry street. I like the contrast the colors bring to each other. $1500.00 with the credit.

WOW...I like a lot of things and I'm usually pretty supportive of changing things on bikes. However...IMHO....these things are kinda fugly. And I really could never justify spending $1500.00 on them. Maybe a couple hundred...at the most. But $1500 would never happen, don't care how much extra $$$ I had.

Usually woodgrain can be "complimentry" and very "stylish" but I really don't think the style of the Vision and woodgrain go together at all whatsoever, at least judging by the pictures at cycledragon they sure don't. Maybe it might look ok in person, but until I see this look in person I'm fairly sure I'm going to stay with my fugly opinion.

Sorry if my opinion upsets anyone

I strongly suggest having Racershawn show you what he has available. Would cost a lot lot less and probably look the same. And if you run it for a few months and don't like it you simply peel it off and you are back to silver. Or if you like it and you decide you want to go the cycledragon route you have options, sell your set to someone who likes the look, or send your set to cycledragon and have them do thier laminate. But if you go the cycledragon route from the start and you don't like it....good luck

And before anyone asks....no I don't have any connection to Racershawn. I simply suggesting him because he does the work.

There's a guy here in town that has a custom choppper (made by some famous bike guy) that is painted to look like a wood grain. Tank, fenders, the whole bike. It looks so real you have to knock on the tank to find out for sure. It's not something I would like on my bike, but it looks really amazing.

Lots of interesting options for trims etc. As one person said in the forum-the only persons opinion that counts is the one who holds the pink slip-if you think its fugly-dont look at it.

I really don't care for the look on the Vision, but it is nice to know the option is out there. Everyone has differing tastes.-----Metalguy
