I've got a little problem that has started to concern me.

I will turn the key on and won't hear the fuel pump. Of course, it doesn't matter how long I lay on the starter button, it aint starting.

I have replaced the "fuel pump/ignition" relay... no help.

It seems to happen mostly when it's really hot and I've been riding a while. It's always come back, so far, but I'm afraid of getting stuck somewhere with it deciding "that's it".

Anybody have this problem before?

Any other issues at all when it doesn come on ? I only ask because recently I had a weird issue ... I was putting on the front valve cover and didn't know I pinched my pc5 wires in it .. when I went to turn on the bike the fuel pump wouldn't do anything, and my right front blinker would click.... once I unpinched the wire all was well again...

I recently noticed that when I turn my ignition to run/start if I don't jiggle the key it will not activate the fuel pump. Is your bike a high mileage machine?

My mileage is just under 20K

I have tried to wiggle the key while turning it, but it doesn't seem to make any difference.

The first time it happened was the first ride of the season (yes, the bike was sitting for several months) but this is the fifth time it has hibernated through the winter, and the first time it has developed this problem.

Since it's been pretty warm around here lately, I'm going to need to wait a while before I can know if it happens in the cooler weather.

pull dash pannel and find wires going into the ing block. Clean add some small amount of grease.

test fuel pump. No less then 49 psi and auto parts store rent them for next to nothing. This would be the same for your bike

Load your kill switch button with wd40 and flip a few times and see it makes a difference...

Oh Keeley, you are so right.

Maybe someone can invent a new calendar adding another 45 days to the riding season. Or better yet, how about just making the season we have, a little more pleasing to ride in.

Good to hear from you, hope to see you again someday.

your fair weather rider, Jim
