Hey everyone.
I am shopping for a bike to bike intercom system. There looks to be tons of products out there
but I never hear anyone who likes what they own, or has a positive response. I dont want a unit that i have to yell into or can barely hear etc etc.
Any information/experiences/ recommendations are greatly desired. Also if you know of something that I should avoid, that works well too.

thanks
Mac

A friend bought the Scala Q2 bluetooth for himself and the wife (she rides a ST1300) about 2 months ago. He likes it but complains about the distance isn't as much as what it says for intercom. He say about 100 yards or so is good but after that it gets some static, not bad but still usable. any further out he calls her on the cellphone.

Sorry...I have to ask the obvious...why not talk to the other bike via the CB? Obviously...I am assuming the bikes have them because it is a more common accessory.

Dont mean to go off topic to much here, but i have pasted a comment from another forum i subscribe to. This was from last year and i am always reminded of it.

"I firmly believe each rider should do his or her own thing with his or her own bike, so don't take the following as any kind of statement, it's just a funny story, to me anyway.   A guy in my Army reserve unit a few years ago was asking those of us who rode what he should get his folks for Christmas. They were retired and the old man was hardcore about his Goldwing. Had it hooked up!

But, Jay came to the conclusion that his folks didn't have an intercom, so what about getting them intercom helmets for Christmas? The bike's wired for it, right? We all advised against it. We explained that a bike is like underwear: how you wear it is very personal and any outside input will likely be unwelcome. If the old man wanted an intercom system, he would have it, we explained.

Fast-forward to the January drill: He explained that he went shopping and got the intercom helmets. He wrapped them individually. His mom opened hers and was thrilled and said "this is great. I've been trying to get your father to get these for years!" and walked off into the kitchen. The old man was sitting  there with his and not the least bit happy. "Son," He told him, "If I wanted to talk to your mother, I'd take the f****** car!"   Apparently, the system broke the first time they tried to use it. He must have bought a cheap system.

Its nice to be able to talk when you want on a long ride. The CB idea I dont wanna share my chats with the community.

Didn't think about that. Sometimes you just want to let the wife know you butt itches, or that
you have gas, but you don't want to share that with the truckers. Wives appreciate
these tid-bits of information ya know.

I have a pair of Autocom systems that I would be happy to sell you. They come with two Kenwood radio xceivers and all the gear including headsets w/mics, control units, push to talk switches, etc. They also allow the integration of MP3 music. I have used them for several trips and they work great - selling because we have Visions now with CBs and are gonna use that instead. This system cost well over $2000 new but I'll sell the whole shooting match for $500.

Includes the following:

2 X Autocom Pro M1 control units
2 X Kenwood FreeTalk XL tranceivers
3 X helmet speakers/ microphones
2 X Autocom push to talk w/wiring
all manuals and various other pieces.
