This isn't a chat room!!!!!!. Funnin", is that really a word. Better yet, FOCUS! Are you kiddin" HAVNFN (all capitalized, yelling at me again) Tone to high and schrill, inflecting discontentment and discord. Absolutely no reason to gesture with all ten fingers (typing), I know a lot that are able to get the same gesture across with just one (middle one). He said "NONETHELESS", does that mean I get more of NONE for a LESSOR PRICE. Kinda confused. Man, I am all offended from just a little FuNNIN". Dang it where is that sister site.

its a scam. whats a few octanes? i read in a cruising mag. that it really makes no difference. put what you want in, and see what you like. i prefered the mid grade. it might be psychologically what i need, but from 85 to 87 isn't much, but the price sure is. i guess the lower the grade, the quicker and hotter the flash point of combustion. i always thought that vice-versa. i'll believe the expert because i choose to and im cheap. i take it the oil is easy to change out?

The one or two point difference in the different levels of octane are pretty much just a brand thing for bragging rights and marketing. Most vehicles call for regular octane levels (83-85 octane depending on brand). Contrary to popular belief, Premium/Super/whatever unleaded gas does not give you more power or fuel economy, but the opposite is true if you use low grade stuff in a vehicle that calls for higher octane.

The higher the grade of octane the fewer "high ends" it has, making it harder to combust. Think of high octane fuel as being more dense and harder to ignite. You want to use high octane in an engine that has a high compression ratio (e.g., 11:1) due to either design or build up of deposits in the combustion chamber. If you have an older car that is spark knocking, try going to mid-grade or premium and see if it clears up. If your owners manual says to use high octane (91+) then use it, it's design intent. If you don't have either situation then you are wasting your money on premium fuel.

Can you believe I actually had a two day class on this stuff?? Mind-numbing...

wow, that was awe inspiring. However, "recommended" instead of 91 OCT only, would give me the impression that the manufacturer recommends you spend the extra 20 cents a gal. Thanks for clearing up the compression ratio. That confused the heck out of me with out an explination. You would think the opposite. Hey, I wasn't a smart alec ! I didn't think i had it in me. O.K. the challenge stands, what is the difference in 87 vice 91? How much "top end", or compression ratio really factors into 4 points? Also, how badly does "Octane Booster" effect the engine? If I was to buy a quart of octane booster, do the math and add the mixture, could I go with 83? Just curious, and I'm cheap, dude.

Where has Buckeye gone? I can't believe he has got fed up with this site. I want to know if he ever got an answer to this question, I'm cheap too, so it would be worth knowing. The thread also show how far the site has come, or digressed from nearly a year ago. What happen to some of the cast of characters like HAVNFN?

That's the thing with the internet. What you write doesn't go away, it stays there way past the time you began to regret writing it! :0

You're right Chris, the site (and its members) have evolved. It's interesting to look at early threads and compare them to today. The names may come & go but the enthusiasm still exists.

I have owned 23 different MOTORCYCLES that I can remember.  I like MOTORCYCLES!  I got my first MOTORCYCLE (Honda Sport 65) when I was 13 years old.  I have owned a MOTORCYCLE forever, except when our kids were very little and food and shoes were more important.  My Wife and I have ridden our MOTORCYCLE all over the United States (except for the north east).  We have 3 kids, 2 girls and 1 boy, who also own MOTORCYCLES.  Our son rides a Victory Hammer MOTORCYCLE.  Our youngest daughter rides a Victory Eight Ball MOTORCYCLE when she is not working and a black and white Harley Davidson MOTORCYCLE equipped with a siren, lights, radar and everything when she is working and boy... can she RIDE a MOTORCYCLE!

WE like MOTORCYCLES!
