It has been a helluva summer riding this 2008 Vison. It was a first for me, buying a new concept vehicle, first production, and a purchase based pretty much on love at first site dating back to Bike Week in Daytona 2007. As with all relationships based on love at first site we have had our issues but it has been an exciting ride (so to speak) and worthwhile experience.

I am thinking that a cool T-Shirt for 08 Vision owners could say "2008 Victory Vision-Test Pilot". We have had great input on the future of the Vison and my hat is off to all of us.

Took a little ride into La Crosse yesterday and while cruising up and down 3rd St. we had hoots and holler's, thumbs up, "what kinda bike is that, she looks like a space ship ", "nice bike man", and the usual stares were apparent. Been like that all summer!

Now wonder test pilots are always getting laid.

Minner, I've been mean' n to tell ya I used to live in Elroy for 2 years one winter, one very, very, very long winter. Did I tell you the winter was long? The time was from May 1996 to November 1997, I think summer was on July 4th both years.

Elroy huh....

Did you work at Elite building the Duesenberg replicas? Heck, wonder if they are still even open....who knows....

There is only one season longer than winter in Wisconsin...its "construction season" here in Illinois

I thought those were the only two seasons we had. State animal is the sawhorse.

I think this would be cool to do as well for shirts. Hey Minnow I used to live in the Winona area and still have family in that area. Been to La Crosse many many times. Good to meet ya.

Well, if we're looking at slogans for T-shirts, my favorite would be "Victory Vision--if you have to ask, you must ride a Harley."

I gotta admit that having a pick up speed up alongside me on the highway just to check out the bike is both awesome and scary at times. For example....I'm at a walk up ATM getting some $$'s and this guy pulls up behind me and says "I've been trying to catch you for 3 blocks.....what kind of bike is that?"

Well after I pulled my hands from above my head (the 'take my wallet...just not the Vision' pose) we chatted for 5 minutes. I have to admit that it has been really fun answering all of the questions.

Cheers

I've seen the Dusenberg replica golfcarts, very cool. I was stationed at Fort McCoy, that was as close as I could get with affordable housing. Enjoyed the time there, especially the part about shoveling snow all winter long and plugging in my jeep so it would start in the morning. If I had rode then, it would definetly been heated suit time.

Winter does last atleast 2 years up here. Last winter lasted 2 1/2 years but we had tons of snow. Snow is good, we can play in it. Elroy was probably depressing in 96-97, I think we were shy on the white stuff.

Good to meet you VisionNWRider. La Crosse/Winona area's are good riding country. Miles and miles of great picturesque country to enjoy. Ever do the Flood Run?

Winter of '96 was to me rather intense, but to the locals it was mild. I heard that '97 didn't have much snow, but we were gone by Thanksgiving.

Savannah, GA -Year round riding!! Yay!
Test pilot? Worry when I climb on the vehicle that I might not make it home due to equipment failure? Yeah, I've had a couple of rides like that, but this last recall seems to have taken care of that!

I found myself with this "dolled up" touring BMW built for these long romantic get away weekends and found that my destination better be within an hour because that's all my left knee could take. And I asked myself what's wrong with this picture…"a touring bike that is 2.5 years old with 8000 miles on it"? One test ride on the Vision and adios BMW.

When I picked up my bike, the dealer laughed when he heard me tell my better half that I was getting a "go slow look at me bike" (which she was all for) and he warned me that every time you stop somewhere they'll want to talk to you about the bike. I though yadda, yadda…I had the same thing with the BMW as I live smack dab where HD's are churned out. But I really was off by only…say 1000 %.

I literally pull out of the dealer on Thursday which happened to be the start of this small event called "Harley Fest" 105 years…you might have heard about it…and get to my first stop light and have travelled a whopping 400 yards and while at the light, some kind of HD pulls up with his better half clinging to him on this postage size seat and she starts screaming at me! "Take me….Take me…my ass is killing me"…and I thought she was going to jump off the bike and onto mine. Not a good idea with my better half watching this in the car behind me.

This happened every where I went…I was cruising down some of our lovely country roads and staying away from Harley Hell this last weekend but there were a zillion bikes all out doing the same thing a good 50 miles from downtown….when I pulled over because my IPOD had locked up and I needed to reboot. I almost caused a three bike pile up at the intersection of " & Silo Blvd." because all three of the bikes and passengers all had to stare at me while driving by. It was hilarious when the "Fair Maid" on the back of one of these Knights turned her eyes away from me and my Vision only to see her "knuckle head husband" was still staring at the bike…so with the cuff of her well placed hand to the back of his skull…he snapped out of it just in time to get the bike back on the road.

The last episode was when I had my 11 year old step daughter along for a "dusk time" ride…her first. We stopped to fuel it up and while we were filling up the island next to us hand a nice "cotton top" retired gentleman doing the same with his car. He looked up and just announced…"now that's what I call a handsome bike, what is it"? I told him it's call a Victory Vision and he responded…"Who makes it"…so without wanting to embarrass him by repeating Victory…I told him, an American snowmobile company by the name of Polaris…he said "ya right and if monkeys had wings" and we both laughed…but for different reasons…lol.

Any way…the "public, they know I'm a coming" because of the pipes…and "they can't stop looking when I get there"…so I'm having fun! And you can't beat that with a mallet.
