North Orange County CA | Rode to work, the grocery, and visited one of our vendors. It took me an extra half hour to get done with my business because my vendor came out to the parking lot to see the bike and then wanted to hear all about it. |

San Antonio, TX | My garage door broke a torsion spring and I can not get the Vision out of the garage. A service guy will be here. If I do not ride tomorrow I will start selling "FREE SPARKS!" T-shirts and call the TV Stations! |

Savannah, GA -Year round riding!! Yay! | My Vision is still at the dealer, since last Tuesday!!, for the recall, replace a high beam bulb (did you all know that you have to take off the air filter and fairing to do that?!), and warranty replacement on a ratching-something-or-another piece on the clutch. They said it would be done by last Thursday at the latest....  So, I went out and visited his spot in the garage.....

Prescott Valley, AZ | Today was a slow day, got up at 430AM for work, rode the 7 miles to the office in 31 degree temps (yes, the seat and grips were toasty!) Then had to see the dealer about the brake lights staying on (apparently causing an intermittent cruise control). They changed out the switch and I'll test it out throughly tomorrow. Yesterday however was eventful!! Again up early (530am) for a ride down the mountain to Phoenix for the annual Ride for Kids event. The escorted ride was only 70 miles but I totaled up 320+ miles on the day getting there and back. If you have not done the Ride for Kids I would HIGHLY recommend it!! Even in this crappy economy we raised over $62,000.00!!!! Again it was a tad cool for Arizona, when I left the house it was a mere 27 degrees outside and I of course had on LOTS of warm gear to supplement the heated seats and grips, fortunately it was MUCH warmer in Phoenix!!! Just like last winter the temp gauge takes a dump once it reaches 30 degrees, from that point it reads negative 0 or negative 9 degrees. You'd think that the folks Iowa would be able to find a reliable temperature gauge but I guess not. Had this same thing last year and no one could come up with a resonable answer as to why this happens, I would be VERY interested to hear from any 09 owner to see if they experience the same thing at temps lower than 30 degrees.

East Ohio | Turned the key and "nothing", dead battery ! put it on charge and started checking, the light in the (it couldn't happen to me ) trunk, was on, I was so pissed, missed 3 of the last 80 degree hours this week, after tomorrow rain and 50's

San Antonio, TX United States | I knew i only had to take off the air filter to get my hand in to replace the bulb, but the whole fairing? Wow, i know my hands are not small, but this guys hands must be huge. lol
Also, what is the deal with your clutch GAgirlTrixie? I know the peice you are refering to, just unusual for anything to be wrong with that. Thought i might learn something to watch for in the future. |

San Antonio, TX | The garage door is working again!!!! Sparks is free!!! They fixed the door this morning. I parked the Trailblazer and drove back to work on the Vision.
3209 miles since July 3rd, 2008. Most of the riding I do is in the city. I have only traveled about 700 miles in the Texas Hill country in three trips on the Vision. I wish it was the other way around. Maybe someday........ |

Pitt Meadows, BC Canada | Finally got my "Safety Recall Notice" today - sent from Chicago Sept. 23 - hmmm ... 20 or so days - to deliver a SAFETY RECALL. Good thing I didn't crash or something scary while the wagon train worked it's way West. Rode my recalled Vision today anyway, after a long weekend riding around Vancouver Island. $110 for the ferry round trip. Disgraceful. I think a car and two people is $150, and they put 3 or more bikes into a spot for one car. Blue sky today - about 60F - perfect riding weather. Got to go ..... |

Dont take this wrong but I hope it never gets cold enough in Florida for me to find out about the temp gauge going that low brrrrr

Lexington, North Carolina | I had to replace one of the headlight bulbs. This is the second time. The first time took a couple hours but I managed to get it done without disassembling anything. That was the right one, and I knew it probably wouldn't be long before the left went. Sure enough Sunday it went out. I really thought that I'd learned enough the first time that it wouldn't be a big deal. What a major pain. This one took even longer than the first time but I was bound and determined to get that bulb back in without taking it apart. I finally got it. By the time you wiggle your hand up behind the headlight, there's hardly any room to maneuver, lots of fun!
By the way, I noticed that all the detailed drawings don't include that danged clip that holds the bulb in place.

Savannah, GA -Year round riding!! Yay! | I got caught in rush hour traffic in Chicago for about 20 miles/2 hours (stuck in the "express lanes"!!). That was back in July. Thought I might have warped the clutch plates. It was clunking really bad, and getting stuck in gear (upshifting and down shifting), and wouldn't go into Neutral when hot. Tech took it apart in July, when I got home from road trip (5 week stay at the dealer), and found nothing. I took it back in Sept., when it was still doing it. That's when he said it was this "ratcheting-thing-ma-bobby". And ordered the replacement part that came in 10/3, but no gasket. I don't know if this is a sure fix, or a shot in the dark.

Reno County, KS | I compiled a list of replacement parts to replace the ones that got side swiped. When I get back, she'll be new again! Sorry to hear that your experience with your dealer sucked (again). It's been hit and miss for me too. When the (other) dealers are good, they're very, very good. The last one let me ride around on their demo bike to shop while they looked at my bike. That's when I bought my 4G iPod Nano and then found out it doesn't support charging on the Vision. Oh well. |

I just read this post of yours after posting on the other thread. Here is something to watch for when you get your bike back. If it is still having the same problem, you can go to Lloydz and buy the clutch plates as an entire set for the clutch. This is the most cost effective route. The second least expensive way it to order the clutch basket as an assembly. If you piece mill all the parts for the clutch plates at OEM prices, it will cost more than replacing the entire basket assembly which will give you new bearings as well.
Make the dealer show you the rack insert they took out and what went wrong. That is your part to take with you when you leave. There is normally a lot of play in the bearing on the rack insert, enough that most people might think it is bad unless compared to a new one. I would think the rack was about to fall out of the bearing to cause a shifting issue, but it is possible. Usually the friction plates in the clutch will start to carbonize and start all the symptoms you described.
