VA | Ok, wanted to see if anyone else has heard this. It only seems to happen on warmer days, but when I am coming to a stop, I get this very low tone, almost metal on metal sound that seems to come from the front end. I'm thinking its the brakes on the disc, but it's kinda wierd. ANyone else experienced this? It sounds almost like the the brake is dragging, but I'm not noticing it dragging and the pads seem to look fine. Any ideas?

So Cal | I dont use the front brake much, but my rear brake will groan at slow speed into turns, also has a squeak to it. Cant see replacing them for noise but will probably go to Lyndall for replacements. I loved them on my HD. I think there are posts on this site that they are available for the Vision. |

Arkansas | I had that noise until recently. I would lightly apply the brakes
to see if it changed the sound- nope! I had had the belt tightened
by the dealer the day before due to the "chirping" problem. The groaning
noise went away after loosening the belt a little- now the chirping is back but
less than before. There must be a sweet spot adjustment that will silence that
darn belt, but we haven't quite found it yet. Maybe your noise is something else,
but I would fiddle with the belt first to make sure. Hope this helps.

LaPorte,Tx. | This is what I have experience. When using the rear brake on a light drag, such as rolling to a stop or in controlled slow speed riding, the front brakes will emit a noise, and I even have felt a little buzz in to the forks. By applying a little front brake lever when this happens the noise stops. I believe due to the link with the rear brake being on one piston on the front brakes the pads are not completely balanced in the front when doing this type of braking, thus causing some noise, buzz or whatever you may want to call it. I don't believe it really is an issue.
As far as the belt noise, this is the one item I really don't like on the bike, due to noise. I have gotten my handy-dandy belt tenion tester now and service manual, and I'm going to attack the belt adjustment this weekend. I have noticed though the chirping noise in more prevelant at cooler temperatures and when riding two-up. |

VA | Thanks guys, I had considered the belt as the source, but everyone seems to decribe a chirping noise, which I haven't had. Plus, it was doing it before my 500 mile service, and when I got that done, he said the belt was pretty loose. I think it might be something with the brakes, going to have to play with it some more and see, but I feel a little better knowing that others have the same problem and so far it doesn't seem to be anything serious. After reading here that the Lyndall website has the incorrect part #'s I called them to make sure I got the right ones. Guess what? They still sent me the wrong parts! The front pads I had to ream the guide pin holes, the were oval and the Vision's were round. I moved to the back and the pads they sent werent even close. Since I ride 5 days a week waiting for them to send the correct ones was not an option. The EBC part #'s posted in another thread are correct. The local sport bike shop had them for $30. I have used Lyndall brakes before and like them, but waiting a week for the wrong parts ? Not good ! |

The pads that Lyndall sent you are for Honda VTX 1800 linked brakes. I installed the Lyndall composite rotors and special pads and after being told that they were NOW correct they were not. The hole had to be reamed out to fit Vision calipers. no problems now.... |
