Hey guys, make sure to check your batteries. The other day I was cleaning my bike and I noticed that there was a little white corrosion on my battery terminals. It was mainly on the red power terminal. I went to the local auto parts store and bought a packet of battery corrosion inhibitor. I unscrewed the terminals and the battery charger lead was fused to the power cable. I pulled it apart and used some steel wool to clean the terminals. I then screwed everything back together and put the inhibitor all over the terminals. It kinda looks like vaseline. Keep in mind that I also noticed that my battery connections were lose at first. MORAL OF THE STORY- CHECK YOUR BATTERIES TO SAVE YOU SOME GRIEF LATTER ON DOWN THE ROAD.

Keep the advice coming.

Thanks for the heads up. This could really be a problem with a closed loop system. Not starting is one thing but dieing on the freeway is another.
Thanks

You can get a small tube of battery terminal grease at the auto parts store. Clean the terminals and then smear the grease on the terminal and wire connections. Caustion, wear rubber gloves when doing this. This will prevent the corrosion your seeing.

Is the battery reasonably accessible enough to do this without taking off a lot to get to it?

Yup. Kneel down by the front tire and look in the bottom of the big opening in the fairing. It's sitting right there in the middle.

Kneel down? Hell, man. At my age gravity sucks big time - how do I get up again?
I think I will just report this to my Victory service manager.....
