I added some rear side panel running lights into the crack at the bottom of the saddlebags.

Ooooooooo! I like! Are there also lights in the engine area? I've been toying with the idea of some extra lights; now that I see it, I like it!

I used 2 - 3 foot strips of flexible waterproof LED strips from Ozinium.com ($14/foot).  I bought the RED LEDs, but the color of the strips the LEDs are mounted on are yellowish.  I think I may try their white LED strips and use the red lens spray to tint the hole strips red.  The white LEDs are 4X brighter than the red LED's, so the red spray tint should not dim them down too much.

I mounted them to the bottom edge of the crack (top of the lowers) between the lowers and the door so they do not stick out and the door can open over the top of them without rubbing.  A 3 foot strip will bring it just under the chrome piece under the seat.

These are not nearly as bright as the new brake light LEDs, but they are bright enough for running lights and they are thin enough to fit in the lower seam.

Karen,

I put a V-Shaped strip of waterproof LEDs (Stingerz from CustomDynamics.com) in the back of the cheese wedge.  They reflect off of the engine without actually showing you the LEDs themselves.  I also put shorter Stingerz strips in the outer edges of my mirrors for turn and brake lights.

The picture also shows some red LEDs under the chrome rear tipovers if you look closely.  The reflect on the pipes, away from the bike and cast a red halow on ground.

You can check out my photo gallery if you want to see the other running, brake and turn lights.
