rhode island | Anyone check out the oct. issue of motorcycle cruiser or american rider?
I can't believe how utterly wrong these so called professional rider's are
in comparing a roadking a kawasaki vulcan and a vision street.
Motorcycle Cruiser was one of the more unbiased rags, now not so much.

SC, Bluffton | Yes, I did notice. I subscribe to about 6 or more publications. I usually
don't agree 100% with the stuff. I was shocked how everyone loved the
Vision so much last year, but with that, how could it be so disliked by all
3 of those riders?
Once they write about scrapping pegs, I know they ain't riders, but racers.
Once they comment about splitting lanes, I can't even read the rest of the
article (totally disagree with that). |

Linwood, MI | Well, I haven't seen the print issues yet, but I can't find anything unflattering on their websites. I'm guessing the sites haven't been updated with the newest print articles?
On AmericanRider.com ( http://www.americanrider.com/output.cfm?id=1660159 ) I found an article that only mentions the new line-up of bikes and general info.
Motorcyclecruiser.com ( http://www.americanrider.com/output.cfm?id=1660159 ) actually had a very flattering article about the Vision, though I do disagree with the authors on the low speed handling characteristics of the Vision.

one heck of a bike. The ride is excellent, you can actually use the bags and get more in them, and it's got enough power.
I'd buy another one. |

rhode island | Lots of back handed compliments; Styling gets all the attention wherever we went but i could never live with one
on a daily basis or incredible wind protection but can't strip it down like the king or vulcan. or the bags hold 14 gal.
and the other 2 bikes bags hold 12 gal. but somehow are bigger.
The Vision spanks the competion but somehow loses, Me thinks the Vision is way over their heads and they know it.

| Cruiser has always liked the Kawasaki brand. Not that they are not nice bikes, but the Vision is not even in the same class as the King or Vulcan IMO. I guess if it has hard bags, it's in the same class????? The biggest laugh I got is when the were comparing windshields. The H.D. and the Vulcan have easy off shields, that come of in seconds. The Visions does not come off, but has a power shield that moves it up and down. It's got a friggen Faring you stupid a$$!! It's not in the same class!!!
I was impressed with the H.P. numbers on the Royal Star. I had one back in 96, nice bike but very under powered back then. Glad to see the beef up the V-4. |

New Bohemia, VA | The mags and reviews are frustrating, especially when they sound like they are riding a totally different bike from my experience. Anyway, with that, remember they are into making money and by advertisement. My guess is that no bike really gets a bad or a good review, just what they want to point out. Again, my hind quarters and knees are the only review I need. With 23K+ and all those out there with more in under a year, ask us what we think about it. Let the rags go on and make their money. Best money I have ever spent. |

O'Neill, Nebraska | I kinda like the fact that none of us are riding a 'commodity bike.' I pulled into the parking lot at work today and there was a 105th Anniv HD sitting near my spot. Nice looking bike....but after looking at it longer, it really didn't look all that different from the Yamaha V-Star silverado I had a few years ago.
Sure there are basic mechanical, history, t-shirts and bandanda differences; but when I used to ride that old V-star I'd have people at every gas station tell my how cool my HD was. Too funny.
Now I pull into gas stations with my Vision and can't get away from the pump without answering at least 1 question. I've also come out of a convenience store and found my bike surrounded by a pack of fellow riders. As much fun as they wanted to poke at it about 'does it have wings' they spent around 5 minutes admiring it.

| LOL! Well I never put much stock in motorcycle mag. reviews, but they probably got it right (wait).
The Vision wasn't designed to "compete" against the likes of Harley, or Kawi, or Honda for that matter. The bike design was targetted at those who wanted a custome (like BigDog or Iron Horse) but wanted one that would tour. It took me a couple months before I quit trying to compare my Vision to my Road Glide. When it came to outright touring and around town riding, the RG won every time for me. However when it came to fun factor and outright ability to launch, the Vision won hands down.
Lots of good bikes on the market...... and if the magazine reviews have a particular FOCUS in mind as they are evaluating, the Vision will rank higher or lower.... depending upon that focus. JMO |

Ruskin, Fl | I had a 2006 V-Star 1100 Silverado also. I took the badges off the tank and the decal off the rear fender. Wasn't trying to hide that it was a Yamaha, it just looked better. I can't tell you how many times people commented "nice Harley". Now with my Vision the comment is "what is that". Love it! |

Yup. When I took my national tour test ride last year I got a chance to talk to one of the ride guides that afternoon about his thoughts on the bike. He's a motorcycle cop trainer for the Detroit PD and owns both a Goldwing and an Ultra Classic that he has logged a lot of miles on, so I kinda figured he would be a good one to ask. He said that the GL does some things better and the Ultra does some things better, but that the Vision was an excellent blending of the two. He felt that any touring rider would like the Vision. He liked it and said that he wished the PD would switch over to Vision Streets the next time they bought new bikes.  |
