Speed is limited to 120. I've had mine there. It will do it in 5th gear (redline) or 6th gear (speed limiter). Now, if someone could just fool the ECM into thinking we were still in 5th gear while in 6th gear, we could probably see 130 with a good stiff tailwind and a long downhill run. BTW, the GL1800 uses the same tires, and they will hit 130 with a good stiff tailwind and a downhill run. Not that I would know personally, or anything.

This past weekend I had an opportunity to do a roll on in 5th gear with a GL1800. Starting at 70mph and running up to 115 mph. Both bikes were even all the way up to 105 mph, that's when the Vision started to pull away from the GL1800.

Are you sure your buddy didn't back off at 105? You should have been even all the way to 120. I'm sure that total weight of the bikes and riders makes some difference. The GW and Vision are pretty evenly matched in 4th gear and 5th gear roll on tests. In contests with my buddy's GW, from about 35 mph up, in 5th gear, I can pull away from him up to about 115. He then catches up to me, but can't pass through my slipsteam unless he gets over in the other lane and far away from my bike. The GW has a higher top speed. The rear wheel torque and horsepower of the two bikes are nearly identical up to 5000 rpm, but the GW has another 1500 rpm to play with. That extra 1500 rpm translates to an extra 10 horsepwer at the wheel. The GW is about 3/10's of a second quicker through the quarter mile, according to all that I have read. I've witnessed my buddy turn 12.78 on his GW. In fact, he won second place in an all-bike night last year with his GW. He and I used to do a lot of bike drag racing. The old instincts are still there. I've not yet had my Vision on the dragstrip, but we've tangled a few times on the street. He pulls about a 50 foot lead on me in first gear, which gap I can then maintain the rest of the way. That gives him the bragging rights for the quicker quarter mile, but in everyday riding/passing traffic situations he has no advantage over my Vision. In fact, when we make a concerted passing manuever, I have to back off to keep from running up on him. The Vision is geared about 5% lower than the GW in 5th gear, which translates into a couple more horsepower at the wheel. His bike and rider combo outweights mine by about 30 to 40 pounds, depending on how much junk we each have in the trunk, and how much gas in the tank. For all practical purposes, the bikes are evenly matched performance wise, but the Vision is much cooler.

A buddy of mine who has a ton of work done on his KP said Lloyds does have a way to beat the rev. limiter. I bounced off the limiter a bunch of times when on my first Vision trip this summer and someone was asking me about it during a discussion of my bike impressions. I could find out more info (specifics) if someone is interested, but I don't ride much above 70 these days except for the occasional burst while passing. Let me know and I'll find out. Might look into it myself for lower gear applications.

please keep in mind Victory put the 120 mph limit in due to tire safety, or al least that's what the engineer's at the AVR said.

Yes I know and I don't need Victory limiting my top end speed. Honda, Harley and BWM don't limit the top end speed and I don't need Victory doing it either. Everyone is using the H rated tires that are rated for 130 mph including Victory. These tires will do fine for short runs at 130 mph plus. No one is going to run at 120 plus for more than a few minutes.

They could also go with a V rated tire good for 149 mph. I would probably only go over 120 a couple of times a year for short durations but I would like to have the ability to do it when I am riding with my Gold Wing buddies.

DITTO! I don't need a higher rev limiter, as 5400 RPM on a 4.25 inch stroke is already a pretty high piston speed, but I would like to get rid of the 6th gear speed limiter.

I had mine up to 107 but didn't mean to. Just rolled on the throttle to pass some trucks and before I realize it I was at 107. Since I put on intake thingy from LLoyds I am running about 500rpms faster than my ear was use to. So I have been running a little faster than normal, and also running in lower gears. I was changing gears per manual instructions, however, I now run about 5mph faster than suggested in the book before changing gears. Now if that fuel controller would just get here, then off to the dyno.

Just did a test ride today with my wife on back and hit 105 without any "squeezing" from behind. I know there was plenty left and it is amazing how stable this bike is for a feet forward, cruiser/touring style bike. Hit 170 several times on my ZZR1200 and the Vision seems as silky smooth as the ZZR was.

We were running from slc to wendover nv 1 Vision 1 wing the Vision Started speed limiting at 126 on the speedo definatly had more throttle left, wing pulled away then we shut them down to 80 and decided black jack and a beer would be better than the crow bar hotel.
