Fellow Riders

During next Monday's airing of American Pickers (can be found on the History Channel) Indian will be debuting the new 2014 Indian Chief. American Pickers is airing commercials all this week about Indian, Sturgis and the TV unveiling.

I'm glad they're promoting this. Of course, we'll know on Saturday night what the Chief will be.

I can only imagine how much Polaris is spending on promotion. Hell it looked like they spent $100,000 on banners in Daytona this past spring AND that was just for the engine launch. I got a feeling we'll be seeing Indian commercials on TV after the unveiling............ It'll be on the cover of CycleWorld and Motorcyclist I'm sure.........

I say too new commercials on discovery last night. THe first was the American Pickers unveil and the second showed a guy washing a dusty Harley. After he was done shinning it up he put a for sale sign on it and the a new choice is coming to american motorcycles was imposed over the bike. Do they want us selling our Victorys also? I'll hold on to both my Vision and my hammer.

I have a feeling I am more of a Victory guy then an Indian guy. I am sure it is a nice bike. But I'll stick with my Vision.

From what I've seen in the sneak previews the first Chief is not a competitor to the Vision. The Vision is the best high speed tour rig available. The Goldwing, HD RG and BMW 1600 are the only bikes close. That may change if Polaris expands the Indian line to include a hard bag full fairing Chief.

Indian is being sold as a heritage bike. There is no heritage of bikes that would compete with a Vision. I doubt we will soon see an Indian that even tries to compete for that market, it just does not fit their business "vision".

Well we all got it wrong with the debut of the Chieftan. All they have to do is add a tourpak and lowers and they have a complete touring rig.......

In the Chieftain video it shows them removing the saddlebags and also attaching a quick release luggage rack. A tourpack is not far off...........Of course it'll cost $1200.00 at least..........

I love my Vision and really enjoy how she handles and looks. Even with that I also love the looks of the Indian Chief Vintage and drove down to Daytona to put a deposit on one. Now I'll have my long distance Tourer and a great looking Cruiser for around town. Besides my dad had a 47 Indian Chief so this is also a family thing.

They just aired the commercial that showed clips of the manufacturing floor followed by the 3 Indian models closing with Mike from American Pickers sitting on one of the 3 bikes and revving the new 111 CI motor.....SWEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wonder if the wife be willing to tryout the Indian passenger saddle and backrest. I probably could get a good trade in on my 2013 Vision especially with all the options I've added and the cams,, upper filter, PC-V and spacer I am having done this weekend. Shoot, I could get money back...only 6200 miles.
