I've been down to McAllen a few times and I would just look for some of the mom and pop places along the way. I rode 59 from Houston to Victoria and picked up 77 to Rivera. I then go west on 285 so I'm not much help from there. Nothing sticks in my mind as "the place" to stop. Every placed I stopped was good, but I will say, sometimes it's a few miles between stops, but no big stretches. I'm not sure if the "love bugs" are out this time of year, but if they are you'll end up with a messy bike and bugs in your teeth. I love riding Texas.

The 'love bugs' are out but seem to be on the wane in the Houston area....two weeks ago I wouldn't get on the STARSHIP.

Got home Saterday evening and had a great ride there and back. Round trip ended up at 1754 miles averaged 51 mpg and the weather was good, except for alittle rain on the way back. I was joined on the trip by my brother in-law on his X Country. Can't wait to go back to SPI again and also really looking forward to my next trip in Aug for the Hot Bike Power Tour.

Don't know your exact route but if you come close to Luling, TX you HAVE to go to the City Market BBQ place. It is a staple for all MC Rides in Texas.

OOPS - Should have read the last post. Anyway - I still stick with the City Market recommendation anytime in lower Texas.
