To answer your question, yes.

At this link: http://www.vision-riders.com/bb/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=5596 RDBUDD posted that you can swap out the radios thru RadioSound.com for an upgrade free.

He specifically said "The audio components for the Vision are designed and built by Radio Sound. http://www.radiosound.com
It's been a few months since I talked to them, but they were offering to exchange your old radio for a new updated one for $175. They would exchange your CB/intercom unit for $150. If you do one, you'll need to do both if you have both, so the hardware/software matches. I had mine exchanged under warranty because my CB wouldn't work right. Give them a call if you're interested in updating. They do not sell directly to the consumer, but they will exchange radios with you that were purchased through Victory. They will talk to you directly, if you explain what you need."

Give RadioSound a call and see if they still offer that upgrade service and how new you can upgrade to.

I had it updated I think about 6 months ago. I also have a problem when I use the down volume switch on my left hand control that the channel goes down instead. I had them look into it but there was no fix.

Me too. The problem with the pod is that it is a two-wire device. The way you make a two-wire device do a bunch of things, typically, is have different buttons/functions present a different resistance on a power loop. Corrosion or physical wear eventually makes the buttons present the wrong resistance, thus do the wrong thing. You can fix it, but it depends on how much time and effort you want to spend doing so. New pod is about $175 from your dealer.

I contacted radiosound and they said they will only replace on 08 radio with an 08 radio. I was hoping to swap it for a 2010 radio. I also asked them if the 2010 radio would work in an 08 and they said that it would cause issues with other equipment on the bike.

That's true if you have other equipment on the bike, meaning things like the CB/Intercom, factory XM, or factory CD changer. The hardware/software all needs to match. I stated that in the statement that someone else referenced. If you don't have any of the other stuff, you might want to call Radio Sound again and tell them that.

I replaced my 2008 radio and CB (both) with 2010 units under warranty. I originally had a 2008 radio and added a 2009 CB and they wouldn't play nice together. In the end, Radio Sound replaced both with new 2010 units. This all occurred back in late 2009. They said the new units were the ones that would be on the 2010 models.

They told me the same thing although they didn't say what equipment would be a problem.

The fix is to replace the LH controll, I have replaced about a dozen on 08 model year Visions...

Having just been through a circus trying to get a cb for a 08 Vision, I can tell you radiosound will no longer do a swap for upgraded equipment. They were very clear if you want the upgraded radio/cb you must order it from Victory. We found this impossible to do. Ronnie was very helpful in giving us part numbers and advice, but evidently things have changed with management since he was able to do his swap. Also as Ronnie found out, and I can back this up, 09 equipment will not play in a 08 no matter what the folks at the mothership tell you.

Victory has basically abandoned support on the 08 bike electronics, when we kept pushing they would send out parts but none of them worked as they were all designed for newer bikes. This includes the part numbers Ronnie gave us that were supposed to work on an 08.

Good luck, and if you have any success I would appreciate hearing about it and how you did it.

Damn, that sucks. They (Radio Sound) were quite helpful back in the Fall of 2009.

I agree it does suck, I believe that Victory probably came down on them (radiosound) for doing the upgrades without being involved. I am just kind of reading between the lines here, but they sure seemed to want to help, just kept saying I had to go through Victory to do a upgrade.

As I have said before after 6 months I have gotten disgusted with Vic and given up. I hope others will continue to hold Vics feet to the fire on their failure to support the older bikes, I just go tired of all their bs.

I went through Victory to get the upgrades. I bought the 2009 CB (through my dealer) after I had the 2008 bike for a little while. They wouldn't play nice together. My dealer tried really hard to get them to work, doing downloads and reflashes per Victory. Victory finally authorized my dealer to order two new units to replace my 2008 radio and 2009 CB. I was told they were the newer 2010 units. Whatever they are, they work fine.

I did not go directly through Radio Sound as a consumer, however, my dealer put me on the (dealership) phone to Radio Sound to explain my problem and all the steps we had gone through to correct the issue. Radio Sound then recommended the new units to Victory, who then authorized the upgrades under warranty.

You have to get your dealer to go to bat for you. Mine did.

The first couple of months were on my own, however from there on it was with dealer involvement. I couldn't even begin to count the hours the dealer worked on this, just glad they didn't charge me for all their time. When Victory would send out the wrong parts I usually had to leave my bike at the dealer waiting for a call back from Victory after the dealer complained. The dealer would email them pics trying to explain why the parts they were sending wouldn't work only to be sent more parts that wouldn't work. Radio Sound acted like they knew what we needed, however Victory would not authorize them to deal directly with us. Might be that mine is not a warranty issue, don't know.

The warranty may have had something to do with it. I don't know. I do know that the solution in the end was to replace both the 2008 radio and 2009 CB with 2010 units that are compatible with each other. My dealer also tried very hard to get the 2008 and 2009 units to work together, but it can't be done. We went past the end of my warranty period before the solution was found, but since we started during the warranty period, Victory honored it.

I guess what I'm getting at is this: Is your dealer willing to do the exchange of your components, through Radio Sound, for two new compatible components? The cost would be $175 for the radio and $150 for the CB, on your dime. They would have to order 2010 units of course.

I admit I'm fishing here now, because my experience was in late 2009.

Radio Sound told the dealer and myself when we visited with them that they could only replace equipment with identical equipment, no upgrades. It was a good idea I thought and was more than willing to pay the difference. For what its worth, one of the so called specialists from Vic told us that this would not work anyway. I know your scoot is proof he was wrong and I really got the feeling he was just trying to shut us up.

Like I said before, I am tired of all the bs and have given up, if I keep the bike I will go with a after market cb.

I appreciate all of your input and still feel if we could get to the right Vic contact person, we could get the job done. The tough part is finding them!

Time to quit bitching and go for a ride.

Here is an idea that I have been toying with for a while. Lack of funds is the only thing keeping me from trying it. Custom Autosound sells the SST secret audio for cars. The reciever can be mounted anywhere with a remote control panel that can be mounted in the dash. 8 Ball plain dash panel
$106. Although I lose the handle bar controls, the ability to upgrade far surpasses Victory's radio. Flush mounting the control panel in the 8 Ball dash would be simple. Not sure of the controls ability to handle wet riding. Maybe a clear plastic cover to go over the whole thing. They also sell RMST with a wireless remote that can be put anywhere when things get wet. A rubber duckie antenna mounted to the trunk or near the license plate mount for riding without the trunk. Compatable with 4-8 ohm speakers. They have provisions for mp3, ipod, CD changer, XM, subwoofers etc...I'm not a CB person so I haven't looked into that. The only problem with the wireless remote is keeping it out of my wife's hands.
