Rode to work this am, all was fine. Coming home tonight, left work, No tach or speedo. Neutral indicator worked as did the fuel gauge and altimeter. Stopped !/2 mile and shut off and restarted it twice, still not working. Rode the 20 minutes home. Parked in the driveway and shut down thinking I was going to be checking fuses. Opened garage door and fired up again to park it and tach worked. Backed it up and went and made a turn in the crescent to make sure the speedo was working. Has anyone ever experienced this?
The gear indicator did not work either. only the neutral light. Going for a long ride tomorrow so will find out more. Any have any info. let me know.

This happened once with a couple 100 miles on it and never again. I didn't do anything to fix it either...I was riding my Vision from a dealer in NC back home to NY. I was already to far from the dealer to go back. However, it never happened again.

You have a factory altimeter? How did you get that? (I don't need it as Indiana is FLAT but it would be kinda cool to have.) I had the same thing happen to a '96 Jimmy back in the day. It turned out to be the VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor). I wonder if there's a loose connection at whatever passes for that in a Vic?

This happened to me in Daytona in 2012. Andy at Volusia Motorsports hooked it up to the digital wrench and it showed no codes. He started it back up and it worked. He handed over the bike and explained that he wasn't sure why it did it. I left and within a 1/4 mile, tach and speedo stopped again. He disconnected the battery for about 5 minutes, cleaned the connections and hooked the terminals back up. It hasn't happened since. Not sure if it was a loose connection at the battery or what.

I too am intrigued by the factory altimeter, always good to know one's elevation!

That being said, it sounds like it could be a speed sensor, although that wouldn't have taken out the tach also. Did cruise control still work? If not, I would still check the speed sensor and / or it's connector.

Could be. I've heard you can update the speedo on some of the steel frame bikes to get more info. Maybe you can update the digital display on the CORE bikes to add some other info, too. I don't think I could find a use for an altimeter but it would be kind of cool to have one (for bragging rights, if nothing else). I wouldn't mind a compass.

The Garmin 660/665 GPS acts as a compass andintergrates into the Vision sound system

It is an '08 no rain, and it was just odd that both the speedo and tach quit and all other gauges worked. Can't fix something that is not broke. I was wondering if it had happened to anyone else on hear.

I've already got a broken 1350. I don't NEED a compass but it would probably be pretty easy to integrate. If I'm out and about, I can usually figure out how to get back home with a compass. I'll buy another GPS by August for the AVR trip but probably not $800 worth of GPS.

Glad to hear it's working well now. Do you have an altimeter or not? Seriously.
