Subject: New 2011 Vision 8-Ball question

Kalamazoo MI
I just put a deposit on a new 2011 Vision 8-Ball with 10 miles on it. As part of the deal the dealer has agreed to install the cruise control, the electric windshield kit, lower air deflectors, comfort grips & throttle boss, heel shifter plus give me a 5 yr warranty. A different windshield is also part of the deal. I picked the short Victory Vision windshield but am not sure that is the right one. I am 5'7" and one of the main reasons fot switching to the Vision is wind management. Is the short windshield enough or should I have the dealer order the Tall shield. I currently have a 2004 Kingpin with lots of upgrades including a Wide Open fairing, i don't like looking through the windshield when I ride. What does anyone recommend. Also did I miss anything that should be added or changed at this point. Thanks for your help.

The short windshield should work.

I'm 5'8" and I had a standard height windshield on my 8-Ball. I didn't like it and cut 2" off. That made it the same height as the short.

you don't say where you live so we don't know what weather you have.
Short can be good for most of summer months and if you have cold springs an fall the tall one might come in handy.
Your best bet is ride and the decide

Hey Davekazoo,
Wonder if you might ask your dealer a question? You said they are installing Cruise Control as part of the deal.........I'm looking at making an offer on a Private party 2011 Vision 8-Ball, and would want to also have C/C installed, and the dealers here (have actually checked with 3 different ones already) are saying they no longer find a C/C kit for Visions application in the Victory Parts catalog; all they are finding is a Cross Roads C/C kit, which says nothing about also working for a Vision.
If your dealer has this figured out, would you mind asking him what the Part Number is, and what the listed install/labor time is for it? I don't want to make an offer on the 8-Ball unless I know for sure I can get C/C installed, and for a somewhat reasonable price. One dealer rep said they can do it, but would be $3,500 for all the new parts required and a ton of labor.........I think they are completely nuts!!
Thanks....appreciate any assistance you can provide.

If your dealer is quoting you $3500 for parts plus labor, what they really mean is they don't want to bother with it. I'll bet the XR kit will work.

I will check with the dealer on Monday and let you know. I did check the Victory Online Parts Catalog and the part numbers that reference cruise control are below and they all reference all 2011 Vision's. The dealer I found the 8-Ball at took over a Victory dealer, so he could be wrong. As part of my deal with him, he agreed to install the additional parts added for free, plus provide a 5 year factory warranty.

Add Part# Description Quantity
1 4012490 Switch, Cruise Control 1 USAGE
2 7081536 Cable, Cruise 1 USAGE
3 7518588 Screw 3 USAGE
4 4011316 Module, Cruise Control [Incl. 3] 1 USAGE
5 1017358 Bracket, Cruise Control 1 USAGE

I have a 11' 8 Ball and got everything your talking about. I don't remember exactly what the cost was for the Cruise Control, but to the best of my recollection it was less than $400. The one thing I added that you haven't talked about are Heated Grips...get them, you won't be sorry. Worth every penny...and they're not expensive.

Re: the windshield and your height...I'm 5'8" and have a 7Jurock 17" windshield. With the windshield all the way in the down position I'm looking maybe 3 to 4 inches over the windshield which is exactly the way I like it. But if I need more height, it's there at the touch of a button.

I thought about the heated grips but I am having the dealer install the Victory Comfort Grips and Throttle Boss . I have those on my Kingpin and have really liked them. I am concerned about them fitting because on Victory's website they say for all bikes but the Vision, I am assuming there is nothing unique and different on the Vision handlebars compared to all the rest. Does anyone have the Comfort Grips on their Vision? For the heated grips I am considering adding the Heat Demons which would give me the heated grips plus the Comfort Grips, they seem to get positive reviews and the installation does not look too hard.

It is my understanding the grips will not fit the Vision...If they do it might be a real nightmare on install and costs...JMHO

The Victory "Comfort Grips" will fit the Vision. You just can't have heated grips. That's all. And that's why it says "won't fit Vision". And that is the only reason. The Vision Comfort grips are just the Kuryakan ISO grips re-packaged. Might check price difference. Kuryakan Part number is 6235 and they fit the Vision. They are on my Vision 8 Ball and I love them. Have had ISO grips on all my rides.

Before buying a new shield, ride with the 11 inch stock. Remember the electric movement is about 3 inches, and that would give you more coverage. Then look at Jurock and Gustaffson, unless your dealer is throwing in the short shield for free. Jurock has anything from 13 inches up and Gustaffson will cut whatever you want!

I did the same thing with my 8 Ball. See my list of goodies below. ENJOY THE RIDE!!

I just checked with the dealer in regards to the Cruise Control I am adding to the 8-Ball and they say that the CRUISE CONTROL Item #: 2877177   is the right one. The part #'s in my earlier post should give your dealer direction, the total cost on Pure Polaris was around $390 for the individual parts.  It does sound like he does not want to install the cruise. I also checked with the local Victory dealer and they wanted $100 - $150 labor to install cruise control.

They say they don't fit cause of our bar ends. Leave the ends off and your good to go

Hey, thanks much for the Cruise information. This gives me a place to start; the dealer here I've done business with is very good to work with (not the one that said it would run $3500!) and very fair with pricing, so I'll go in and show them these P/N's and see where it ends up.

It is my understanding that you can add the Victory radio for around $1500, the plugs are there. One reason I wanted  the Vision 8-Ball was that it did not have the radio. On my Kingpin I added the Wide Open Customs Fairing, a Sony radio and 4 Polk Audio speakers. It all sounds great to about 50 mph. I also use a TomTom GPS that has MP3 and Bluetooth tied to the Sena helmet speakers. After riding to Sturgis last summer, I decided that the helmet speakers sounded a lot better than the speakers in the fairing. I also always ride with the Westone Musician Earplugs , the music sounds way better with them than without them plus they block the wind noise. With the 8-Ball since there is no radio this will work out great. I just ordered the Sena Xpro Clamp from www.bikeintercom.com  and had them make it with the Sena Clamp where the mike detaches as I use the Sena for music and not the intercom. They upgrade the Sena speakers with Tork Speakers . The cost is way less than adding the Victory radio and should sound better.

This is a standard height windshield that has 2" cut off.

I hate when the windshield blocks a picture.
