| Looking for opions on the lower wind deflectors. Are they worth having for handling engine heat when its hot outside. Also, since have only ridden my Vision once when it was warm (88 degrees), I wondered if anyone expeciences heat thru the seat from the engine. |

| say add where you live and what bike you have
I cut my aluminum panel cause I don't like the looks of the lowers. Cooler in summer and ok in late fall months.
Yes the seat is like having a monkey but. Gold Bond power or wood seat beads

| I have a 2012 Vision and am located in southern California. Gets warm even at this time of the year inland. |

| I wouldn't even think of riding without lowers. Plenty of cooling air in the summer and nice and warm in the winter. Indispensable as far as I'm concerned.

, AR United States | The lowers are definitely worth having, summer or winter. I have not noticed my seat getting excessivly hot. |

Lexington Park, MD | Not going to go wrong on the lowers, pricey yes but worth it?? Absolutely! You will complete the Visions air management system with them. As for the plexi cracking, breaking... I have heard it can be reduced by adjusting them at the hindge points by hand vs feet... lol... So far, wouldnt think of riding without them at all! |

Jasper, MO | The lower deflectors should be stock equipment (and probably metal). They work that good. Mine are still the plastic ones, but I'm careful with them. If they break, I'll spring for the aftermarket replacement blades.

Desert Hot Springs (Palm Springs area), CA | OK, so I'll be the lone voice saying I don't have them... I live in Palm Springs and ride ALL year. I don't have them because I don't really like the way they look. I've ridden in all kinds of heat (up to 117 degrees) and have not sensed the need to have them. Perhaps my desert reptilian blood is just so thin, I don't know! <grin>

I procrastinated for two years and finally pulled the trigger half way thru last year, I wish I hadn't waited. They are helpful in hot, cold and rain. They seemed very pricey but it has been a great investment in comfort. |

I agree - they are fugly, but are a huge help. I won't go so far as to say they feel like air conditioning, but having ridden from 116deg down to about 4 deg I can say they do make a big difference.
From 95deg up I they really help keep the air flowing and the legs cooler (partially open).
From 60deg and lower they keep a warm bubble around me (totally open).
Below freezing they are invaluable.
Really helps with the rain protection as well.
I broke my plastic ones, and bought metal from cycleops. Really happy with them.

| love the lowers! the seat does get warm in summer heat. I used some ceramic beads last year and they help a good bit. got them from beadrider.com for a previous bike I had. I have heard that a "low" seat is cooler, perhaps because of type of foam used. |

They solve a problem that doesn't exist (for me) & will never be on my Vision-never gonna have highway pegs or a trunk rack either for the same reasons. I've got 35,000 on my Vision and some tours went through serious heat-all I had to do was move my leg out into the breeze and the problem was solved without gluing $300 of BS onto my beautiful tourer. Lick & stick all the stuff you want onto your rides I'm very happy with a clean machine. |

I purposely left them directing air into the engine as well as the uppers. I found that they worked but were not SO compelling that I'd want to put them on my bike. I have made the observation on my Vision that I keep the uppers out pretty much ALWAYS. I find that the uppers create a vortex of wind that comes whirling around my legs. YET when I put them in and allegedly direct the flow more towards me, not so much. So, during my demo ride I moved the uppers on the demo bike to the outward position. Sure enough, more wind seemed to whirl more around my legs - kinda like my bike without the lowers. Anyway, it was a fun experiment. I also think body size factors into this a bunch. I'm 5' 9" but with short legs and arms... |

Central Maryland | Lowers and uppers are excellent for cold weather riding. Highly recommend them. For the summer... I could do without the uppers and lowers. |

| Didn't have my vision long before it got cold but did notice the heat. After reading about the problems that some are having with the Victory lowers I wasn't sure if I wanted to spend the money. Last week was on E-Bay and there was a new set of hinges. They arrived today. Will at (Cycleops USA) said he could try to have the Crimson Red matched or I could go with the black ones, which I did hopefully they will arrive in a few days. I-guess I got lucky because the hinges are hard to come by.

Tavares, Fl | On my Stratoliner I added a product called HP Heatshield Mat to the underside of the seat. The Strat gives off some real heat. I had enough left over to do my Vision, hopefully it will help. Its a peel and stick mat, silver on one side to reflect the heat. |
