I found very interesting behavior with my 2011 Vision tonight. Just from screwing around after I got home from work.

With many motorcycles that I have previously had (and the few I still got). I have always been able to shift from neutral into first; and then back up into neutral and into second; while not in motion, and using the clutch.

Apparently this is not true with my Vision. I cannot shift into second while at a standstill from neutral. Even If I put it into first, then neutral and then into 2nd. Even with letting out the clutch a little; double clutching, etc.... it will not go into 2nd from neutral.

Of course there is no reason to go into 2nd from neutral while stationary; but I was very surprised that I can't shift into it, like on all other bikes.

Have any of you experienced this same issue?

My 08 shifts either way from neutral with equal force. Same as any other bike I have ever owned.

2011 and up have a lockout on 2nd up when at slow speeds. This is to help you find neutral.

I was checking out the new torque compensator assembly yesterday and found that there were a few mods done starting in 2010. The assembly is different. Upgraded different to make it easier to find neutral. Parts cost to make an 08 or 09 like yours is over $800. That's parts alone. If you're not happy with yours, I'll trade you may parts for yours! I was considering upgrading mine, but not for that price.

Do some of you have problems driving?
Start in first gear. Then shift to second. Perhaps into higher gears, if conditions allow.
Downshift as you need to when slowing.

Sheesh ....

I believe that it the neutral assist feature, or whatever it's called. My 08 you could shift into second while stopped, usually when looking for N. The new bike I cannot unless I'm moving.

What? Now you don't want to trade me the torque compensator assembly?! You know, come to think of it, I think something is seriously wrong with your bike. So, if you send me your parts, I'll send you mine while I check it out. Deal?
