Bayonne, NJ | Hey guy 09 vison here. where i push down on the button on the right saddlebad the button does not return. I have to manually more the latch to secure the bag to close. Any ideas what i can do to fix?

Meadow, Texas | Lojak - Had the same problem with my bag lid opening when I didn't want it to. Contacted dealer and they called corp. - no luck there. Went into the latching mechanism and looked at the cable that ran from point to point - seemed it was too tight. Removed a little doohickey (electronics engineering technical term) and loosened it up. That happened right after I bought it in late 2009 early 2010. No problem since then. I loosened both sides up at same time - still no problems.
Simple but it worked.

Meadow, Texas | After thinking about it - I would describe the 'doohickey' as a nylon cable guide. I removed it and the cable just ran along the rounded bracket and that loosened it up enough.
Soprano - you might check the same for your problem. The cable was too tight for both bags and it kept the bag from fully closing and any little bump in the road would allow it to open.
Good luck for both of you - I know how much of a pain this problem was for me until I figured it out.

Henlow, Bedfordshire, England | I have had a problem on both my Visions - the answer on both was to very slightly loosen the small screw with the star head that the cable is attached to. It is very tight so be careful not to strip the head. When done a little WD40around that area from time to time makes it extremely smooth opening and closing |

Anderson, IN (48mi NE of downtown Indianapolis) | I have not had an issue with the button not returning. I've had the other issues described in this thread though. Here is what fixed both sides of mine.

Saskatchewan, Canada | Like a dummy I thought that I should lube the lock mechanism,,, bad idea! Mine was popping open too! I had to empty my right bag and take the pressure washer to it to fix what I did, I now only use compressed air to clean and maintain those lock mechanisms |

Bayonne, NJ | I took a good look at the screw adjusted it several times. even took the entire lock off and put back on several times if i dont fasten the 10mm bolts down the button pops back up the secons i try to make it a little tighter the push button doesnt return |

Anderson, IN (48mi NE of downtown Indianapolis) | Unfortunately there is no adjustment to center the button in the hole. I had many problems with mine when I first got it. Sometimes the door wouldn't shut. It would just bounce back open. Other times I couldn't get it open no matter how hard I pryed. I just had to wait until it opened by itself while riding down the road. I played with the latches, hinges, and buttons again and again until it worked. It took a while, but they are smooth opening and closing now. No problems for about 2 years now.
The only time my button stuck was when I tried to put spacers behind the two mounting bolts. The button rubbed the edge of the hole.
Keep messing with it. You should eventually find something that works. Good luck. |

Peru, IN | Is it possible the limiting cable (on the door) is getting in the way causing things to jam up? Can you put the old style hydraulic cylinders on in place of the cables? Any advantages/disadvantages?

| My rightside door is very difficult to close and stay latched.
It has popped open on me. I've tried adjusting the lock and it doesn't pop open anymore but is difficult to shut.
I have to slam it shut. |

W'ford Tx | This happened to me but as stated above silicone spray and it fixed the problem within seconds. There are no adjustments really to be made at all. You can try messing with the two 10mm bolts that hold the assembly on. See if you can move it forward or backwards. Even if it's a little bit if you can get it to come towards you some and tighten it down it'll make contact with the latch assembly that much sooner. Couldn't hurt that's for sure. |
