I bought my 2012 Vision new in August and have 7000 miles on it. (I would have more but split the miles with my other bike) anyway it seems to turn over pretty slow when starting as compared to the other 27 bikes I have owned. It has always started but since I ride year round and it is getting colder I am worried it might not start when I am leaving work after sitting all day. Is this normal? I have had bikes with larger engines (Harley-based) that turned over faster. Is it just the battery getting weak? It probably sat for 6 months before I bought it. Now it gets ridden every other day and I don't use the radio, heated grips or seat if I can help it. I have checked all connections at the battery and starter and all is well. It is just not confidence inspiring.

Well I am not the only one that thought this then. I know it sure seems to me like it turns slower than my TC, just figured it was something differnt with the gearing. Almost reminds me of my old 61 dodge truck compared to my chevy but I never had a problem out of either one. As for using your electrics, I have been using mine solid (I work 3rd shift so into work at night leave before dawn) for the past week and I have yet to see anything differnt. I also have NOT been turning off my seat/grips prior to starting. I should probally do that.

Havent seen anything on the gauge drop that would give an indication that it was drained. Something to followup on in a couple months Im thinking... Our temps have been mid 30's low 40s the past few days plus no wind breaks where my bike is parked at work. So it is COLD when I hit it in the A.M.

Plug into the tender over night see if that helps. My '12 Vision is the easiest starting bike I have owned.

I live down in Texas and the only time I have slow cranking is when it is in the 30's. Is there another 106 bike in your area you could compare with?

Thanks for your comments so far. The volt meter looks good when running although I should look at it when I am mashing the start button. It has always started when parked in my garage and I can't or shouldn't have to plug it in at work! It's not like I ride it only once a week to bike night. I ride it 5 days a week. It fires within one revolution everytime so far but that's what has me concerned. If it turns over slow enough it might not fire. I have not heard any other 106's crank but will try and get to the dealer or pay more attention when I am around other Victory's, however I really need to hear one "cold" start.

I ride to work everyday. Temps have been high twenties to fifty lately. The heated seat and grips have not been turned off in two weeks. No problem cranking over. I am on the original 2008 battery.

Do you live close to a dealer? If so, I'm sure they would let you start one in stock or in the maintenance area for comparison.

Yes. That was the first thing I did when I noticed it starting to turn over slower. I also removed the electical cover and checked the other conections. It is getting progressively worse so the dealer is going to load test the battery. MaVic has a 5 month warranty on the battery so it should be covered if it tests bad. thanks for all the comments.

Put a good charge in the battery and then go to a auto store or a battery plus shop and ask them to do a load test on the battery.
If battery comes up good then ask dealer to do a draw check on the starter

Dealer checked it today while I waited with MaVic plugged in and all checked out fine. That's OK by me, must be in my head. Like I said it always starts, so we will see. N/C from the dealer.

The bike sat outside today at 45 degrees and it turned over a couple of revs before it fired. Normally it fires in what seems like less than 1 rev. It seemed to turn over slower but fired. I will find out soon as I ride year round and it will get a bit colder. I feel better that it checked out OK. I wasn't trying to make a mountain out of a mole hill just being proactive. I love this bike.
