Anderson, IN (48mi NE of downtown Indianapolis) | The Vision has the clunkiest tranny of any bike I have ever ridden. I took mine back to the dealer when I first got it because I thought something was wrong. They said that is just the way it is. 34k miles later it is as loud and notchy feeling as day one. I have few complaints about the Vision, but shifting is rough. There are many other other things about the Vision that has spoiled me. I couldn't go back to lesser motorcycle now. |

| My 08 Vision also has 34K miles and my 09 has 11K, both in the last two years.
The transmissions are clunky and have some gear lash. I wouldn't trade my Visions for any other machine. |

Duanesburg N.Y. | MY 09 transmission is total garbage in my opinion, whines, clunks terrible, If you are in a low gear and roll on and off the throttle back and forth the compensator sprocket in the primary bangs back and forth like rail road box cars coupling. works normal, just a shit system welcome to my world!! lets ride!!

Mt. Vernon, WASH. | It's a characteristic of the machine like the idle 'knock' in a SUBARU, if you don't hear it, then there IS something wrong. I like to tell inquisitve Millwaukee 'me too'ers its because the tranny has real gears in it. I rarely listen to the radio on the road and enjoy all the mechanical sounds and messages the bike is telling me along with all the other inputs nature gives me. |

| The only "clunk" I EVER hear is when dropping into 1st from neutral, otherwise shifting through the other gears is normal albeit a bit "stiff", especially when compared to the shifting on either one of my old Honda Goldwings ('98 GL1500SE and '03 GL1800).
While I have read many things here and over at the VMC about the transmission shifting noise, I wonder if some of it is caused due to operator error as while attending Randy's Cycles open house and Demo Days last weekend I overheard rider getting off of the bikes talking about the hard shifting and when asked said that they don't use the clutch except for at a stop or down shifting. I always use the clutch whether shifting up or down, how about you guys? |

Chattanooga, TN | I use my clutch whether I'm going up or down through the gears. My transmission sounds 'normal' t me! It got quieter when I took my wife on a ride or two in the mountains, with lots of gear changing between 2nd/3rd/4th. I guess it finally cut it's teeth around 20k miles. I have a little over 32k on her now. |

| Victory's for the most part have noisy transmissions according to some...I do not feel my 2011 Vision is any more noisy than the 05 Honda VTXF I had..The Honda clunked when going into first gear all the time, otherwise smooth and quiet...08 Kingpin was a little louder than the Vision, but one gets used to it..Victory transmissions are, for the most part, very reliable and with the recommended oil and regular changes last forever.......Ride Safe |

| Bluto - Try preloading the shifter before pulling in the clutch and making the shift. Works well for me. Preload & just a slight pull of the clutch when shifting up is smooth with only a click. Only use a slight pull for down shifting also. It likes to shift around 27K RPM +or- a few hundred. |

| Rick's right, ease up on the clutch pull and it helps. The trans are clunky though, I don't pay any attention anymore. 27K RPM?

NE Florida Jacksonville | This is my second Victory, my first was a 2002 TCD and they both sound about the same. Never had a transmission problem and the clutch is bullet proof. My prior ride was a Moto-Guzzi that I rode into the dirt. That transmission made noises you couldn't believe and it lasted over 100,000 + miles. The engine died before the transmission did. I don't think the engineers at Victory cut any corners in the design of this transmission. The geared primary will always have some lash but it will last a long time. Enjoy the symphony of sounds and just twist the throttle to enjoy the ride.
