Has anyone found a sure fire windshield cleaner that will not dull, scratch or fade a windshield?

I've been using Plexus cleaner on all my windshields for about 10 years. Never a problem with any of them. Plexus comes in a few different size containers, even one small enough to carry on the bike. It is specifically designed to clean non-glass windscreens. It's available at most bike dealers and mail order houses. At the beginning of the season, I usually order a couple of large containers and a couple of small containers for carrying on the bike. You NEVER want to use a cleaner with ammonia in it on a plastic/lexan windscreen.

On the bike, I carry the small Plexus spray container with a micro fiber towel in a bag and use it on trips etc.. Common sense needs to be used when cleaning your plastic windscreen. I will hose off big bits before cleaning. If I'm not going to hose off or if a hose is unavailable to me, I'll spray the windscreen with Plexus and let it sit for a minute to let it lift the bugs, bird poop, dirt off the wind screen.

I've also been using Honda brand liquid wax on my windscreens for 10 years as well. This really helps keeping them clean. I'll wax the screens once at the beginning of the season, and once about half way through. Again, never any yellowing or fogging of any of the windscreens using this wax. I've never tried any other type of wax on the windscreens other than the Honda brand.

I'm wondering if anyone else has tried a more economical product on their windscreens?

I hope this helps,

Best Regards,

Steve DiFranco

Learned this lesson about 45 years ago working as a line boy at an airport, you always polish a plastic windshield in an up and down motion ONLY! Donot go in circles as you will cause solar blobs (big circular sunlight magnifiers). When you get done riding for the day, dig out a small spray bottle (laundry spritzer) full of Hydrogen Peroxide and hose down the windshield (might as well hit the whole front of the bike while you're at it) and all the bugs while you wait for the bike to cool down enough to put your cover on.Using a soft cotton rag or old TEE shirt or cotton diaper, not a terrycloth wash cloth type, and wipe up or down to remove the bug guts, repeat if necessary, the use a top of the line liquid or creme plastic polish sparingly and again wipe up and down only. Don't put RAINX on a plastic windshield it will cause it to craze over time.

I've used a number of these products, and all have worked great. Spray and Wipe Instant Detailer good for all surfaces, including windshield.

As said above, I have used Plexus for so many years I don't remember...Never had a problem with this product on any windshields, fairings, or plastic parts. Honda polish or now referred to as Original polish, has also worked for me for over 15 years with never an issue...If you want to really get the shield clean after a trip, bugs etc...Use a 50/50 mix of White Vinegar and water with a warm towel and you will love the results.......When done, polish with Plexus and your good to go......JMHO (PS) I recently started using the products shown above this post from Victory and so far they seem to work great.......Jon at Witchdoctors is now selling a product from Bubba ??? It claims to be good, but as yet I have not tried it......

I have used the plexus, is good, however some of the older Vision owners will remember Victory sending out the gift bag for us '08 owners. It wa the Pure Victory product, bike wash, vinyl protectant, and the windshield cleaner. I really liked the windshild cleaner, however none of the local dealers here carried the Pure Victory product which I would like to get my hands on the windshield cleaner. So now i use the Plexus till my next trip shouth of the border!

Plexus mostly, and Pledge in the past, also with good results. Just don't use lemon scented. Unless you like bee's!

+1 for Plexus. I'll try to remember the advice posted above to NOT clean the windshield in a circular motion.

I used to use Plexis until I found Novus 1. It is much less expensive to use. If you want something better yet, use hydrogen peroxide in a spray bottle. It will foam bugs off easier than a commercial cleaner will. Just spray it on, wait a couple of minutes and wipe off with a soft towel. It also works great as a pre wash on the rest of the bike. Been doing it for several years now with no effect on the paint or plastics.

Thanks everyone, this has been very helpful. Riding in Saskatchewan gives me exposure to A LOT of bugs, so I will have the chance to try it all

Novus cleaner works like a champ don't care much for the scratch remover it adds more than it removes.
